Big Vern
Not been successful in getting Glastonbury tickets this year and looking for something nice and easy going as a potential replacement. Looking at their website, seems GuilFest might be a decent little replacement?
happyhunny
I like Guilfest. It's very laid back, admitted the line up is never the latest bands... but this is ... something different. Everyone seems to be chilled out and relaxed. In the daytime there are things to see outside of the campsite, including a nearby shopping centre and a sports complex with a nice swimming pool... This means you can get a swim and water fun as well as a shower. It is not like Glastonbury and If you went expecting it to be you will be disappointed, but as a chill out fest I have always enjoyed it. To me it was a good place to go when I was suffering from the, 'come down' of being at Glasto. If you decide to go, go with an open mind and thoughts of chilling out and take the festival on its own merits.
eFestivals
Watch out for the over-eager old bill. They're anything but "laid back" and "chilled out and relaxed".That aside, it can be very pleasant - tho it is what it is.
jump
I've not been in a few years but I'd rate it as good experience, it's very laid back and family friendly.
gjammer
You would probably like Beautiful Days more - although think it's sold out. Edited June 5, 2014 by gjammer
Bisque
Guilfest is small & seeming chilled despite reports in the past of teenage troubles in the campsites in previous years. Being near Guildford centre its really easy to get to which is why it might have attracted non-paying fence jumpers into the campsite that may have caused the disturbence issues. eFestivals
Further to what I said above, I happened to bump into several of the guys who run it at the weekend, who told me that this year the police will have much less of an imposing presence, tho some of the roles they've previously been doing will now be done by 'normal' security personnel. frostypaw
Not bad at all, it's pretty good fun :-D family to an amusing degree, considering there are still a few very wobbly folk around
eFestivals
Not bad at all, it's pretty good fun :-D family to an amusing degree, considering there are still a few very wobbly folk aroundGlad you're liking it. It's an odd mix of suburbia and festival, but I've always thought it somehow worked very very.
frostypaw
It does work very well - somehow both village fete and festival at the same time. Great fun but not quite sure which camp it lives in - yesterday was even stranger for being properly festival-busy but some great performances. Considering the 'meh' reaction the line-up got a lot of people are having an awful lot of fun, the organisers know what they're doingGood comedy tent too
