Seen them a few times and most recently last October and they were absolutely awful. Never been to a worse gig. Pete forgot the words to half the songs and it all sounded awful. However the time before that a while ago it was amazing.

I've been to countless Doherty-based gigs over the years (massive fan and live in London so never need to travel far for the last-minute shows) but pancakes just summed it up perfectly. When Pete is on form, the gigs are amazing - I've been to gigs where he's played for hours and had to be dragged off by the security guards. Then there are times when he's either too smacked up or just not interested and they've been abysmal. Very hit and miss - although in recent times they have been more hit than miss (Shambles at the Roundhouse was particularly good!)

Used to be a massive fan of Pete, Libs, Shambles, DPTs etc but a lack any new material since 2009 made me lose interest bar those reunion shows. As others have said, when Pete's good he's very good but when he's bad...oh dear. In fact I'd say that both my all time favourite and and all time worst gigs have been watching him. That's why I'd always see him - you never know what you're going to get! The new album's ok but the punky edge has slightly gone and it's all a bit "safe" but I reckon they'll be there. There was a time (2005-2009) when it wasn't Glastonbury without Pete cropping up somewhere and the last time even Carl was there was 2010 I think although I think he goes as a punter every year.

Personally, I think it's some of their best stuff yet!

Seen them quite recently and they were on top form and Pete's looking pretty healthy.....even though he's put on *ahem* a few pounds...

When he headlined the Park a few years back, we went along hoping for the best but fearing the worst - he was about 10 minutes late when he finally came on, apologising because he thought he was playing on a different day (!)... and then played a brilliant, low-key set of solo, Libertines and Shambles songs. Really fantastic. When he wants to do it, he really can perform. I'd go see him again.

That's why I don't like Street's involvement, he's a good producer but totally unsuited to Shambles, he stripped away the punky rawness that I loved them for. I think PD's generosity with giving away so many demos and out takes etc is brilliant but it does spoil you a bit as you always have something to compare the albums to and not always favourably. The solo albums the worst example of this which is why I was so glad they didn't put my favourite of his solo songs on it.

Carl was good in 2010 but I went to one of his solo shows later in the year and didn't enjoy it half as much.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
