The National

I was wondering this myself the other day. For some reason, I kind of think they might be more likely for Latitude than Glastonbury. What are the dates of Latitude? Actually, I can have a look myself...

17th to 20th July. Perhaps that is far enough way to risk doing both that and Glastonbury if the line-up appeals. Provided I can find someone to go with me of coruse!

It's my birthday on the 15th...

Lattitude line-up announcement coming up on 6 Music. I wonder if The National could be a headliner there?

Would fit, although people tend to make a big thing about Latitude not repeating headliners. I think they headlined in 2011.

No National in this announcement. Two Door Cinema Club the first headliners.

Well that's unbelievably dull and disappointing. Is there going to be another announcement then?

I'd quite like an excuse to go to Latitude so I can book at least one festival and not potentially be facing the possibility of a yawning empty summer without one.

Oh yeah, they only announced one headliner today, plus a few other bands - Royksopp and Robyn, Anna Calvi, Cas McCombes, can't remember who else...

I know what you mean, though. I've got lots of plates spinning at the moment. Trying to get confirmation for Denmark, not knowing if I'll get a Glastonbury ticket, half-tempted by the Hyde Park thing, but not enough to pick it above other possible options. Would like to get something nailed down.

I reckon you'd hate latitude

I suspect I would, too. Too many middle-class types with picnic blankets being passive aggresive if I spilt my Tesco Value rum on their crocs.

*Edit - this is based entirely on stereotypes and assumptions - I've never been!

Well, luckily I'm not as prejudiced as you guys ;)

I'm not prejudiced, live and let live. But I go to a festival to escape, let go and enjoy myself. I get the impression Latitude would be quite a reserved atmosphere, and if I let myself go I'd encounter a certain amount of tutting. I don't want to ruin anyone else's time or my own.

Again, all based on assumption.

I was joking. I don't really think you're prejudiced. Russy is though!

I don't like to judge things until I've been for myself though.

I like Anna Calvi. Think Phospherescent was on there too, also good. That's about it, but it's very early days. Two headliners still to come.

To be fair, I haven't heard either of those. When's the next line-up announcement then? And was it announced this early last year? Thought it was much later.

I know. Sorry.

I'd recommend checking out Anna Calvi, though. If you like Cave, PJ Harvey and/or Jeff Buckley there's a pretty strong chance she'd be up your alley.

Yeah I've heard good things about her and I like all of those people. Not sure why I missed her at Glastonbury 2011 (?).

I think there is a Latitude thread somewhere round these parts. Maybe I'll start lurking around there.

    • I saw this just after it was posted yesterday, I barely paid attention to it. I didn't realise it had blown up in the way it has. I'm sure (kind of) that Sziget will be unaffected - it brings in billions of huf over a very short period. Its consumption, compared to the rest of Budapest, will be tiny in reality. That said, nothing wrong with encouraging people to use less energy whether it's now or in the future.
    • The eulogies are flooding in.   The list I've seen so far is Jenrick,  Hartley-Brewer, Hopkins, Lowe, Pearson   Tells you all you need to know about him...
