You have to remember that it's not a case of "re-opening" the site. It's more that the site takes a pause just before the sale.

This happens because it takes time (days) to vet peoples photos in the leadup to a sale, and this spikes just before a sale (due to some peoples bizaar idea that doing things just before a deadline in some way makes anything easier).

So, to manage expectations, its easier to take the site down a week before the sale so you've got enough time to vet all the photos and accept as many as you can ready for the sale. And equally, no one ends up registering at 8:55 AM on the sunday expecting to be able to buy tickets.

Simple logistics of running a large event. Err, I mean "1984 Orwell Big Brother GCHQ NSA spying on you".

What about the thousands that tried for an hour and a half and were left disappointed? How about giving them as good a chance as possible? Reg has been open since the end of the last one, its their fault if they haven't done it by now, and yes I did miss out on tickets

Not really end of is it? There is already far enough demand over supply so they don't need to keep reg open to sell tickets, open reg in between the end of the festival and ticket sales day that's more than enough time to get registrations in

Using the future business angle tho there are many businesses that have failed going for new customers while ignoring their old customers. I think a lot of glasto's old guard are feeling left behind. The ones who used to pop a cheque in the post/carve a statue with a chainsaw/yes maybe even sneak in on the back of a truck...

    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
