People say this a lot and it's mental really. I live 10minutes away from london bridge, or 12 minutes from cannon street. There isnt a tube station anywhere near me. My trains are never late and are never packed like a tube.

Tying yourself to a tube line adds hundreds of pounds onto your rent.

South East London is the only affordable part of london these days, and there are some really nice areas. Hither Green for example.

Completely agree, being on the same line. Overground is so much nicer than the underground and you can get pretty much anywhere central from westcombe park/maze hill/charlton/greenwich area, and its a nice area.

Indeed. London Bridge, Cannon Street, Waterloo and Charing Cross covers most of the central london bases.

I think we have forgotten to mention the fact that travel costs are less than £100 a month too. Not touching the tube saves you a fortune.

And the road links to get out of london are ace too. Close to the M11 and A20.

well you can be on the M25 in 10-15 mins. When I lived in tooting it took about an hour to get to that damn road

come on Tony, you know it and I know it, SE London is where all the cool kids live.

I'm talking if you want to get OUT of london! Who on earth drives IN london? From SE London you are out of the city in 15mins tops.

Though I cant imagine ever needing to go anywhere further north than camden in london anyway.

I don't know enough about and haven't spent enough time in London to comment on the various areas. All I know is I've been and enjoyed some parts but couldn't tell you if they were North or South. I'm always just following friends who live there and trusting their judgement.

If what you say is right though, I'm guessing I've been in the southern areas.

Blackwell tunnel, then up and round and you are free of London. Very simple.

aye, there are nice bits that's for sure. I'm going to see suede at kenwood house tomorrow. Never been there before but have looked at photos - it looks incredible round there.

There's reasons why some of those areas are cheaper. I'd sooner live in Kabul than Stoke Newington.
