I'm 17.. and going to glastonbury for my first time... with 12 others who unfortunately are all at the crap age of 17.. bordering 18... we've done leeds and reading and I.o.w but now we're getting serious... were travelling from Manchester via coach and cannot carry much booze.. either due to luggage restrictions. . or the fear it may just get took off us at the gate... how do people react if a younger punter was to ask politely withsome reward to either take a crate or two in while we carry some of there luggage? Or the attitude when we ask near a bar nicely to get us a round and one for themself?

I'd happily carry it in for you if you carried some of my stuff. But from previous experience (I was 16 at the last festival), the gates weren't very strict about us carrying in alcohol. Most was hidden in our bags to be fair but I doubt unless you look very much under 18 that they'd care.

Also at the bars, when it's busy you can get away with not being ID'd. However I have heard people in their 30's+ saying they were asked so I guess it's just luck of the draw.

They don't ID EVERYONE at every entrance or bar, otherwise we'd be queuing all weekend! As you are a large group, I'd recommend that you split into maybe 4 smaller groups in different lines when you get within sight of the wristband exchange. Avoid drawing attention to yourself by being boisterous and obnoxious, those are the prime targets for random checks in my view.

If you do decide to ask someone else in the queue to bring your booze in for you, reward them handsomely with at least 4 cans, and if they say no the first time, accept that answer and try someone. Maybe befriend them first, have a chat for a while before asking them.

I don't think you'll have any problem bringing alcohol on to site, as others have said. Just make sure none of it is in glass bottles - they will jump on anyone of any age seen doing that. But if you're worried, I'm sure most people would swap stuff with you - I know I would. Guess my only other recommendation would be to have it in something easy to carry - a couple of boxes of cider in a crappy carrier bag will hurt like hell after a very short period of time!

If you're going by coach anyway then you want to make sure your crates are covered up, either in a bin bag or in a bigger bag so that no-one else takes it from the hold saying it's theirs when getting off the coach. Remember you have to carry it all too so maybe take some (decanted) spirits in your rucksack to share between you all as well so you don't have to carry as many crates?

Your best bet would be to get to know someone on the coach and go in together, there are bound to be some older groups on there and you'll have plenty time to try to find someone sympathetic, if you explain the situation and ask nicely i'm sure 90%+ of glasto goers would help you out.

For your own supplies, it's mostly all down to acting sensibly and responsibly I reckon ... turn up at the gates pi$$ed out of your brains, barely able to stand and dragging alcohol various behind you then be prepared to be relieved of your supplies. Ditto being caught on site in a particularly bad state I suspect. However, behave sensibly and responsibly (-ish !) and you'll more than likely get no grief from anyone and have a great fest. I think there have been concerns raised by MDC after most recent years about serious levels of underage drinking and problems as a result thereof so it is a known issue that's likely to be watched for but the key thing I would suggest is to just be sensible and don't draw massively unwanted attention by standing out as being far too young to be in such a bad way and all that. As for bars, isn't it a "Challenge 25" policy these days ? If so no realistic chance of getting served and penalties for anyone buying on your behalf so be careful and all that.

[ NOT that I'm in any way condoning underage drinking of course, so don't forget to pack your 'OJ', 'lemonade' and 'cola' etc in plastic bottles ;) cos anything in glass will almost certainly be confiscated no matter how old you may or may not be ! ]

... fondly remembers being regularly served in pubs/bars when aged 14 or thereabouts regardless of the 18/21 it was at the time

Glastonbury is way, way more relaxed than any other festival I've been to. Getting in to the festival, bringing drinks in, buying drinks in there. No-one gives a ****.

Just don't run round getting in other people's faces, and you'll be left to whatever you want.
