First time at glasto

quick question (as I didn't think it was worth making a new thread) - do the tipi fields open the same time as the rest of the festival or later? I read on the glastonbury website that the tipi fields have an opening ceremony at 6:30 on the thursday - it seems slightly unfair if that is the case that the people who buy a tipi either bring extra camping stuff for the wednesday night or miss out on a day of the festival.

It's a festival opening ceremony. There are 2 tipi areas that are next to each other. One inhabited by folks who live in them permanently/semi permanently. I'd imagine that they arrive a while before the festival starts. There's a lovely sauna in that field too. The other one is for the tipis that people can hire. That one opens on the Wednesday morning.

My first Glastonbury was 1981, best advice then was to park/drive sensibly.

Remember and make a note of exactly where you park your car - not just the field number but a little sketch of where in the field - relative to gates and fences. One year I parked my car next to a big red van that I thought would be a good landmark. But it left before me and I spent hours walking round trying to find my car. Not funny when you're tired, knackered, hung over and pushing a barrow full of belongings.
