Coach ticket but have a camper

Hi any suggestions as I had to get a combined ticket and coach ?

But my friend got me a Campervan pass and really want to take my camper, when you've been on coach and get tickets is there anything different printed on your ticket to say its coach only? I know I will have to get coach but think I might be able to walk out and meet my other half to get camper of him.

Any suggestion welcome.

Mined I'm so please I got a ticket today as didn't sleep at all last night, as not miss a Glastonbury for about 20 years and normally take a camper

Something along the lines as what you've said. Arrange for van to be somewhere off-site. Get there, go to van, head in.

Personally I'd suggest *not* getting wristbanded before getting the van, if only because trying to drive in on a pass-out could appear dodgy.

You only collect your actual festival tickets from the coach I think. Could someone else drive your camper to the site - you then get the coach, collect your ticket and stay in your campervan when you get there

It's going to be a bit of a palaver, but I think you'll have to go on the coach, get your ticket, then once you're at the festival, get a shuttle bus / cab / walk to meet your mate somewhere logical (Shepton Mallet, maybe?), pick up your van and drive into the campervan fields. You'll deserve that first beer once you're in and settled!

Glastonbury town centre might be a good place to meet your other half with the camper, just catch the coach to the festival, then use the shuttle bus one way out to the town, stock up on any supplies you've forgotten at supermarket and then drive in?

Other half working this year. so having girlie weekend 1 friend got ticket and already going ont Tuesday with caravan rest of us had to get coach tickets so means we prob be split up unless I can sneak my small camper around by her when nobody's looking. It's never straight forward lol.

Hi flaming ginger hpefully the banker will get trader passes early and take yr van in. But it also looks from these posts that u will have to bribe yr driver to get tix off him so it wud b better to get yr van in same time as me!

where is your coach ticket from? I am in same boat and I am planning to try and take camper in on Tuesday late morning/lunchtime, then travel to Swindon to catch my coach at 0530 on Wednesday! That way I get a decent camper pitch. I suspect a deal of persuading might be necessary on the gate, but I figure I am spending Tuesday traveling miles to get on a coach and have to go past the site, which for van fields opens mid-day Tuesday, so may as well try to park up there. I will have a van ticket and a coach ticket that evidences that I have a festival ticket. Worth a try, if it fails I am sure I can leave the van within a few miles and get back to it after the coach drops me off Wednesday morning.

I had the same problem 2 years ago. It took a lot of negotiation, but a smile seemed to help and they let us park the caravan, as long as we left the site immediately.

Our back up plan was to pay the local farmer £10 to leave the caravan in his field for a night.

This year my daughter has to fly to Glasgow to get the coach and I have to travel to Swindon, we only live 15 miles for Pilton!

Davebrave - that is reassuring, and my back up plan was identical!! Let's hope a smile keeps it moving along.

As my wife isn't coming this year I think leaving a day earlier, i.e. Monday, to attempt to "deliver" my van might not be worth the grief (although a good idea), so Tuesday morning it is. 4 hours drive from the Lizard, park the van, lift to Swindon, 0530 bus to Pilton, walk back to van for a rest and a drink! More a carbon bootprint than footprint, but I am sure it makes sense to the licensing people....

If you want a lift to Swindon on Tuesday after lunch I might be able to help. We are staying at a friends relatives house I think, so I can't offer accomodation, but PM me if a lift would help, or if you have a cunning travel plan. We are 3 people that will be getting the coach and staying in the van eventually.

SeaOx - tried to "like" your reply, but am out of "likes" for today! I have e-mailed the Festival Ticket office to ask if this is definitely what happens, because if it is we have just significantly reduced our travel time and carbon boot print, as instead of two vehicles and a hell of a round trip, we just bring the van and wait until mid-morning Wednesday for the 0530 Swindon bus to get in . Sounds too easy to actually work!!

Hello Folks,

I'm in the same situation(albeit not quite so bad). I am in London and the coach leaves from London. I bought a van a couple of years ago and converted it myself just for Festie season! never got to use it last year due to training for a new job all throught the summer. I'm desperate to take it for Glasto, got the camper pass after getting coach tickets on the off chance there is some way of gwtting round this.

When do they hand over the tickets on the Coach?? If it is when you first get on I will just jump off at the next set of traffic lights and go and pick up my van?! There is 4 of us and we only managed to get 1 way coach travel so it would be easier for us for getting home.

Other option is driving down the day before and parking my van somewhere, cycling to the site and chaning my bike up, walking to the nearest train station to get back to London then picking the van up when I get there!

Festie office have replied and said it is not possible to miss the coach and get tickets at the Pikton end of the journey, a shame, but I guess that was bound to be the answer.

William - the confirmation email says you get them at some point, so you could be lucky, or not. I think the safest bet is to get the van in or close and go back and catch the coach.

The bottom answer seems to be the best plan if it is convenient. It's not clear if you would get to park where you want or in a holding area. Given that vans may be delivered for people that don't want to drive them I am sure they will be "pitched", but not sure if all fields are available. I am keen to get in the one we were in last time.

Stone Circle - I am going with your suggestion, i.e. delivering the van. However I won't get away with being away from Monday to Monday, so earliest I can deliver it is Tuesday late morning, then up to Swindon for the coach. I am feeling positive about it being OK, and I can always leave it nearby if I can't get into the fields to deliver it. I will have a van ticket and a coach ticket so common sense should prevail. It sounds like it worked for Davebrave. Cross your fingers!!
