Help needed please

Hello lovely people. Please can I have some advice which festival to take the kids to this year.We took them to The Green Man last year and they loved it. I cant take them to glasto as I work there. They are 13,13 and 14. thank you very much

"Camp Bestival" sell themselves as a family specific festival. I've not been, but it might actually aim itself at kids slightly younger than yours although there's probably loads of stuff for older kids to do. Others who have been might be able to confirm this.

Has a half decent line up this year too

Camp Bestival was ok,but a bit Home Counties Range Rover brigade,professional types who have left it till the last minuite,who more often get mistaken for the kids Grandparents rather than their parents.

As Ed209 says it isMainly aimed at younger primary school kids.

Depends what you are into really and what you think will educate and please your children the most beneficially. If you think world music then it's got to be Womad. If you want a blend then I'd say Shambala would be suitable. Went there for the first time last year and confirm that it's very friendly and caters for both children and adults. If you do decide to go and have never visited The Hurly Burly Cafe visit it at Shambala. Buy something and hang around for half an hour and see what happens. It really is a thing of beauty in my opinion. As for the rest of the festival, well it's just fab all around. Great vibe.

Can also recommend Shambala - although I've never taken kids (might be strange as I have none!)

They gave family camping and do a family camping BBQ the first night I think. Plus roller skating and circus acts seemed very popular with the kids!

my kids have been going to solfest for years now and they love it, they think they own the place at times..... mine are quite a bit younger than yours at 8 and 9

Went to Bestival and Womad last year. If music drives your experience I have no comment. If vibe is the thing then Womad was extremely relaxed, family friendly & entirely enjoyable. Bestival in my humble opinion as a family festival, in two words, not really.

PS, I'm middle aged with teenage kids. Previously only ever been to Glastonbury & taken my 14 year old Son (now 18) I was blown away by Womad and the feeling that If I took the kids there they could pretty much run free without any fear for their wellbeing.

Depends on their taste in music and how far you want to travel.

This year I'm doing Wychwood, which has loads of activities for kids; I'll be revisiting Trowbridge (now the Village Pump Festival at Westbury in Wiltshire) which is fine if they have folk-ish leanings, and the Croissant Neuf Summer Party in Usk - great fun for all.

Our teens were 15 and 16 when we first took them to Camp Bestival. They still come every year, now 18 + 19 and love it. Yes there are a lot of young kids but I think it's great for all ages. Personally not one of the Range Rover brigade but it's easy to avoid them! Last year there was a wall of death, extreme skate/bmx park, comedy to suit all ages, jousting and plenty of music, dance classes, DJ's etc. A fantastic light and firework display to finish. I'd recommend it tbh.

Thank you all for your advice. Like the look of Shambala but think I will try WOMAD as its closer to Devon, but will wait and see the line ups. Both look great
