coma girl
Anyone needing to book trains for Bestival should start looking as train operators are now taking advance (a.k.a cheap) bookings for the start of September, just saved myself a packet. coma girl
Yeah it varies a little between operators, I'm using 2 for my journey and I had to wait a few days to book the whole thing.

coma girl
You tried splitting the journey? I have booked mine as a two part journey, travelling on the same trains as I would be if I booked it as one journey and its costing me £20 altogether for a 400 mile journey Have a look on moneysavingexpert.com, he has great tips for getting cheap tickets and also you can usually find promo codes in the transport forum. Shaun Child
It's £7.80 each way from South Wales to Southampton for me! Thanks for reminding me to book! Just ferry now, is Red Funnel from Southampton something like £20 return if you're on foot?

Shaun Child
How are people getting from the ferry terminal in Cowes to Bestival? Is it worth booking a taxi? There's 7 of us going.

Yoghurt on a Stick
The thing is if you get a taxi and get stuck in the festival traffic the meter will still be going even though you'll be stationary. That'll not be an issue if you pay the one off fee for the bus/coach transfer. Then again you do have £70 to spend between you on a taxi before it becomes an issue. Maybe you could ask for a fixed price.
Shaun Child
I think a little closer to the date I'll phone a few local taxi firms and see if they can do it for a fixed price, it's only like a 15/20 min drive if I remember correctly? LondonTom
Yeah I get what your saying, plus it depends on the cabs they have to. If they don't have people carriers and ever then with all your stuff...might work out best just for the shuttle buses

Homer
Is there any way of actually booking a cheap ticket for the return journey? I booked for 2pm odd last year and despite leaving at before 9am I still missed it due to the slow Ryde to Portsmoth crossing. Luckily no one checked on the train and I sneaked through at Waterloo, though it meant for a stressful journey when I didn't really need one!
