Kendal Calling 2012

Just a hypothetical question, cos I don't know if it will happen or not.

My wife's morning sickness is kicking in quite hard and she's come off all her medication which has left her struggling to get around. We're both thinking that maybes 2 festivals in a week will be too much for her, she's talking about going to Wickerman and then staying with her parents whilst me an my daughter go to Kendal. She's gonna leave the final decision until she returns from Wickerman and see how's she's coped.

The issue I have is that I don't drive so my father in law is gonna drop us off if it comes to it, just wondered if there was a decent drop off point where I wouldn't have to cart all my camping stuff a long way, we could ask him to park up in the emperors car park whilst we set up but we'll only have tickets for me and my daughter as I'll give her ticket to one of my friends.

Any suggestions on the best option if we get dropped off ?

Ha ha, I'm sure the mrs will be chuffed with that suggestion, cheers for the offers. If she doesn't go I could just hire a Sherpa or student to cart the gear around and offer them a free ticket I suppose

Steve, I'd be tempted to drop naarjtie a PM and explain your situation....if he monitors the forum he'll see that you're a regular poster and the type of punter that the festival caters for - I'm sure he can sort something out for your dad-in-law to drop you off in Emperors Field if it came to it.

I'm sure there will be plenty of us around if hes only able to drop you at the entrance to EF to give you a hand carry your stuff to your chosen pitch.

However, fingers crossed that 'er indoors is feeling up to it.

King Charles' album is probably my fave of the year so far. Has a vampire weekend feeling about it.

Now...............back to the weather.

According to accuweather

http://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/kendal/la9-4/month/322476?view=table

Thursday - cloudy (no rain)

Friday - clouds and sun (no rain)

Satrday - rain (4mm)

Sunday - cloudy (no rain)

I'd give my left bollock for that forecast!!

Hi, Having lurked for a few days you all sound like seasoned KC goers ... This will be my first KC and as a newbie just wondering if anyone has a map of the festival from 2011? Hoping to get an idea of the site beforehand.

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.

    • Knocked Loose have been announced for Wacken, that's them at Bloodstock as well   I think they'd headline over Malev
    • I hate tradmill running with a passion lol. Yeah the 1km reps are the one along with hill reps. That's what I did last time.  It's very a very hot summer and job circumstances to stay at the consistent level I was for the marathon earlier in the year. I've got a full set of the main distance new PBs this year. 10k isn't a problem most days but even today I went out deciding just over 5 mile was enough between recovery cruise and steady.
