Baggage Trolleys

I bought one of the funky festival trolleys (on sale in the camping shop on this 'ere site) and can wholeheartedly recommend them. Stood up to the rigours of glastonbury during a tricky year to traipse across the site on the way in and was able to fold down small enough for me to use public transport on the way home. I saw a few of them in use on the way out, so a popular choice, it appears.

I have read that they can have an issue with the wheel end caps popping off, but haven't suffered the same personally and would suggest that if that's a concern you could take preventative measures (epoxy resin before knocking them in or something similar just to add some more security).

ONE THAT doesn't fall apart :) we had that sack truck from B&Q bought for glasto 2011 never used one before, we should have used it when we first arrived..but we didnt , we waited to go back to the car..by this point it had rained heavily, ground was churned up, mud everywhere etc..shortly after we got through one of the pedestrian gates one of the wheels came off :(

I saw people using their councils domestic wheely bins this year. I don't think they coped that well in the mud but would be good on a dry year.

no, they're not much good in a dry year either - they just not built to carry the sorts of weights people load them with for festivals (generally much greater than the weight of rubbish they tend to have) over the lengths of rough ground they get used for at Glasto.

Even in completely dry years you only have to look around to see the wheels come off this idea.

I'll take your word for it as I haven't seen them on a dry year. You could probably customise one though (if a spare one was to become available!)

Hmmm .... without going to my wheelie bin to check this is correct, I'd say that anything without bearings and particularly where only plastic is doing the job of bearings is beyond any worthwhile customisation.

I really haven't thought this one through have I ! I got swept away with the idea of having such a generous plastic 'bucket' to put stuff in - such as beer! Less of a problem in 2013 as I hope to get a tipi (if I get a ticket at all), which means I'll be the weight of a tent down. Don't do the two runs thing to the car.

The tipis are a bit pricey when you look at the initial cost, but when you break it down per person per night it's not so bad. About the same cost as staying in a B & B. Not too bad a cost for what will (hopefully) be a nice experience. Some of my friends said they would only go again if they got a tipi ! Their argument is that we can all be together then, as this year we had to pitch our tents away from each other.

I use one of the Funky Leisure ones.

I think there's a gap in the market for a trolley which you can also either sit on/that will hold a humans weight. In 2010 I queued for 5 hours, sat on my trolley, and broke it. Or a similar "trunkie" style trolley for children, I didn't envy the parents in that queue one bit!

This is what you want if you have the space to get it there.

If not a sack barrow from B&Q is what i have used for the last 6 years. Ratchet strap it to your roof.

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
