I was off my tits, enjoyed the show, shame not to see more electicity though. Can someone explain eh story? i did not get it. Was it:

These alien pod things were discovered by lost space men, who then got destroyed by the big crane and the men in the jeeps?

It was rather yawnsome. We made it over well on time on the Saturday. I never got to see the Tesla Men last year and so was expecting something even more spectacular instead was met with less woomf woomf, twirling acrobats and that was about it. The big vehicle thing...yes...it did something but not much.

Sound was directed down at the dancing near to the stage, other than that it was super quiet everywhere else. I feel they should have placed the sound system further out but pointed into the crowd (like Arcadia can and did with the first Afterburner at Glade in 09).

Disappointing is the best way to describe it all sadly.

The Common on the otherhand was immense!

It really holds no interest to me really. I like the scaled down version at Rockness but there isn't much else on. There's so much else going on at Glasto I just won't waste my time with it.

Really looks like they've killed themselves in the face with this poor effort. Never mind, the east side late night area needs a new look anyway. Or even better removed and then scattered around the entire site. Obviously to suit the nearby residents, as fukkin always!! ;)

I haven't seen the show before although this was my third glastonbury. I went both saturday and sunday night,a dmittedly the sound levels werent quite as high as they could have been but the show itself amazed me as someone that hadn't seen it before...

One of Arcadia's challenges with the Spider is that they can't rehearse until they've built it. And the rain during the build meant even less time for rehearsal.

Also, a move towards a narrative format is a jolt when people have seen the narrative-free effects based show that was last year's triumph.

A bit of 'difficult second album' syndrome, weather, and tech issues left some things wanting.

They are a very conscientious bunch of people, and I suspect that they have many frustrations with the result.

They set a very high bar in 2010. I think they'll surpass it in 2013.

Arcadia was amazing!

The show was obviously lost on most of you. Shame, I thought there were more intelligent folk on this forum. :(

I agree some of the decadent, over the top, hectic, constant explosiveness had gone but I think that was wise. The story line (for those who understood), the genius of the lightening (the 2 guys from last year were unavailable apparently so Arcadia decided to do it's own flying Electric Lords), the excitement and showmanship of the on going delays to opening... it was all perfect.

The violinists were amazing, the costume was perfect.

My only criticism was that I preferred the field last year. I don't think it worked as well in 2009 either (when in what is now Unfair Ground).

But the show... best thing all weekend.

Not sure what show you watched but i witnessed a bunch of acrobats, a tight rope walker, two blokes failing to get zapped by electric and a man with a disc cutter on a vehicle. And i think a burst of flame. But that might just have been somebody lighting a fart in boredom.

Seriously is there NOTHING that people won’t moan about?? All I have read since logging onto this forum since returning from Glastonbury is whinging nauses going on with themselves …. :

“it’s not as good as it used to be (don’t go again then? Things change and the festival is always what you make of it)

“the late night queues were a joke” – (there were plenty of advanced warnings for this ahead of the festival – if you were that bothered about getting in then go before 11 or after 4? SIMPLE)

“Oh that show was boring” – why didn’t you go and check out the hundreds of other bits of entertainment going on around you then, instead of standing there picking your nose and then coming on here afterwards to complain?? I thought the Arcadia show was really impressive and enjoyed it on Saturday night immensely.

Look! Positivity! It’s not that hard. :)

All reading this forum has done is make me ensure that I will not be logging on and browsing again in future, talk about pissing on people’s chips. I assume most of you won’t be bothering again next year. Nice one. :)

rant over.

2010 fireshow completely blew me away.. I was really excited to see it again and dragged a bunch of friends over on Saturday night instead of Coldplay.

Definitely not as good as last year though sadly.

1) Central Tezla coil - impressive and cool to see it buzz to the beat, but not a patch on the guys dueling last year, and when the two guys went reaching for the lightning, well it went on too long for not enough payback

2) Guy with a tightrope and those spinning on ropes, just seemed to be filling in time - I've seen better on Britain's got Talent

3) the Cars through the crowd - what a build up - I thought they were going to be awesome and fire people out of cannons, and even saw guys getting into the cannons.. but then just a couple of crappy fireworks came out, and no man flying across the stage at all.. bit pointless after the build up.

4) no real big finale - where were the people dancing with flame throwers? That was awesome last year and should have been done again - it's a fireshow... should have been more fire.

Orbital set was sweet - danced me old socks off.. Kind of made up for it.. but not quite, and my friends told me afterwards I'd oversold it. I hadn't, it just didn't live up to 2010.

    • No dramas man, I just like to follow others journeys as well. Get the inspiration, give out inspiration and the outdoors is the clear the head place to do it. I'm heading out for a easy trail run today I think, 10k- 10 mile we'll see how we go. I've got a half marathon in October I'm well unprepared for hahs
    • The Cheap Thrills at Mountford Hall, Liverpool.    They've been around for a while and have built up a large local following. Last night was their biggest yet, at a sold out 2,200 capacity venue.    It was a big old joyous, indie singalong from start to finish, the band clearly having the time of their lives. The debut album is out next month and they seem to be going down well on the festival circuit, maybe their time has finally come.   2 supports, I unfortunately missed Credits but the few songs they have on Spotify sound good, Americana vibes. The other was M60, reportedly Gary Neville's favourite band. If that's true, he's as clueless about music as he is football. To be fair, their sound was poor, maybe with a clearer sound they'd have been better but it was pretty dull.
    • I can see them all merging along with the Tory’s . Restore curently couldn’t muster enough candidates to be a viable option . I lasted 4 mins and couldn’t watch any more . Lowe is just dull along with racist
