I think it's fair to say the announcement may chuck a few names around we didn't totally expect. Didn't they try for The Darkness other year when Maiden played but they got Pendulum before Download did the following year instead as The Darkness weren't quite ready?

Depends how close to the arena gate you pitch your tent - that depends on how fast you get there. How close you park your tent is inversely proportional to the amount of sleep you'll get due to the number of people stumbling past your tent and the amount of noise - but on the plus side you'll be able to hear the Soni radio without needing a radio.
