In my dream world they would come onto The Wanderer whilst the video screens show footage of Johnny Cash playing at Glasto before launching into Where the Streets Have No Name.

Would be a perfect start for me and a tribute to a Glasto legend too.

for what its worth we had bets on what they'd open with at elland road in 1987 and funnily enough nobody guessed 'twist and shout', so as its a one-off special for them i expect it will be totally unexpected

i'd go with 'wombling free'

No way will "Where the Streets have No Name" be an opener I reckon. They have never ever opened with it as far as I know and they usually save it for about 3/4's of the way into the set.

I think a good choice for them would be Elevation. Here they are opening their classic gig at Slane Castle in 2001 with it. Really gets the crowd going

Adam Hints at Zoo TV / PopMart Theme for Glastonbury

Posted: April 22, 2011

By: Matt McGee / @mattmcgee

Adam is dropping hints that U2 is planning a 1990s / Zoo TV / PopMart theme for at least some of its upcoming performance at Glastonbury. In an interview in the new edition of Q magazine, Adam answers a number of short questions about U2's first Glastonbury performance, including this telling exchange:

Q: What can we expect from your show?

Adam: It's very un-Glastonbury to have a big production, but we will be sneaking a few things in through the back gate which will hopefully make the experience a little more like Glastonbury on steroids.

You'll have a job sneaking the U2 360 "Claw" in...

That might be tricky. But we're stretching the levels of what can be done. We hope to create a mind-blowing experience that reacts well with all the other substances involved.

How will you do that?

We want to go back to our '90s work that plays into a certain kind of psychedelia and do something that's tailored around that, from Zoo TV to PopMart. This is the 20th anniversary of Achtung Baby so there's a nice connection there and we thought we should mark that.

U2 will make its first Glastonbury appearance as a full band on June 24th. They were due to perform last year, but had to cancel after Bono's back injury.

I think the ZOOTV hint is a big pointer towards either this Even Better... remix or the Zoo Station opening.

I'd love it if they paid homage to the ZOOTV set openers and kicked it off with the classic 6 from Achtung Baby. That is their best set opening ever, and they even followed it with New Year's Day, absolutely colossal. I'm sure with the 20th anniversary they'll throw in as much of Achtung Baby as they can.

I think Hold Me, Thrill Me... will be played. I'm also encouraged by the fact that they played Zooropa in Sao Paulo. I absolutely love that song and it'd certainly fit the 'psychedelia' description that Clayton mentions and the feeling of Glastonbury itself.

This might work as a weird bridge meant to disorientate, in the same way the remix of I'll Go Crazy was used.

Where The Streets Have No Name will not open, no chance. That'll be one for coming back for the encore.

(Space oddity).....Beautiful Day...I will Follow...Mysterious Ways...Elevation....etc,etc If they stay true to current sets. I would like Vertigo to start to get the crowd bouncing but we will all have to wait and see.

I can't believe anyone thinks it'll be Beautiful Day - it starts so quietly, it would be a massively damp squib as an opener. My money's on Elevation or Vertigo although going by those quotes from Adam maybe The Fly is in with a shout.

More importantly, what will be the LAST song?
