Curveball acts?

Every year everyone has made a prediction which hasn't been entirely spot on due to FR pulling acts out of the bag that we don't see coming, such as Belle & Sebastian, Slayer, Angels And Airwaves, Ian Brown, Weezer and Cypress Hill, plus acts like Interpol, Panic At The Disco, The Raconteurs, The Courteeners and Vampire Weekend getting higher slots than we predicted.

So who do you think could be a "curveball" act for this year? I reckon at least one of the following would be there:

Rancid

No Doubt

Sonic Youth

The Offspring

Pavement

Primal Scream

Also reckon Mumford & Sons could 3rd headline if they played.

Wouldn't consider either of those to be particularly curveball (not too sure about Primal Scream either) - unless The Offspring were booked to play surprisingly low, 4th from top maybe, or Rancid did actually headline the Lockup rather than play main.

Not sure what my guesses are atm anyhow.

Major one I have been thinking are KoRn but that looks pretty much out the window now.. The Ting Tings have a decent chance imo and I think they would be kind of curveball... same with La Roux.

REM being predicted for lower than expected slots at V and Glasto, maybe Reading as well/instead? Though I imagine the source would have known about R+L as well if they were, still, I can dream.

Dunno if it's curveball or not but Interpol were announced for Rock am Ring earlier, could be a good shout for Reading?

V get R.E.M. and they (presumably) put them on a smaller stage, but whilst we're in need of a 3rd headliner we don't get them? That's a disgrace.

It's a weird world when R.E.M. can't headline, I know their stock has fallen in recent years but it's still really weird to me.

One of the most important bands in Alternative Rock history, up there with The Smiths, Pixies and The Stone Roses in terms of importance, and played outdoor shows the last time they came to the UK.

But obviously Rihanna is more worthy of a Main Stage slot.

Michael Stipe, if you're reading this - sack V Festival off in favour of Reading and Leeds, where people have been wanting your band to play for years, instead of V where the average atendee's idea of edgy, leftfield music is KOL and The Killers (the only Rock they listen to), and your legacy will be insulted with a modest slot.

They deserve better.

If they were booked for Reading and Leeds they'd headline no doubt. I can understand that Arctic Monkeys and Eminem are both worthy headliners, but seeing R.E.M. sub headlining is a depressing sight.

its probably quite right that rem dont headline anymore or we would be having just bands from the 80s and 90s.
