Reading and Leeds isn't a bad festival by any means, it's just Glastonbury provides just a staggering amount of entertainment for the sale price (or less, if you count the early bird). They are two completely different festivals aimed at two completely different types of market.

You've also got to remember that Reading and Leeds' primary aim is to make money, it's far more commercial. That's not necessarily a bad thing; it just is.

I can't speak for Glastonbury but with Leeds I felt as if I was being penned in and left to wallow in my own crap, but mostly other people's. There's little in the way of security floating about the place so people are left to their own devices in finding things to do, and with the unhealthy amount of drugs and alcohol floating about the place, those 'enjoying' themselves found ways of making others lives a misery when their supplies had run out. The whole place was oscillating with bad vibrations.

I very seldom had anything to say to people who passed themselves off as helpers but I felt that - if I did, the chances are they wouldn't have given a f**k either way. Then when the tents started being set on fire, I saw one 'helper' venture up to one tent with a tent pole just to stand there and poke it, and then call in another helper over her walkie talkie so that the other helper could stand there and poke it with her. They were f**king useless, those people.

this year at leeds had the most security/stewards/police i've ever seen at the festival. the first two i went to, any sort of festival staff and police were practically non existant.

i felt that the fires on the sunday night were dealt with quite well, the fire people were usually there putting them out before they got too out of control. although i did see a few big fires that looked like they could have got quite dangerous. these idiots should just be thrown out.

For me Reading is 50% music and 50% social, the fact it's in the town that I live means that I always go regardless of the line-up becasue I have a good time with friends and either find bands that I want to see or see bands that I don't want to on the off-chance that I'll like them.

I won't lie though, if it wasn't in Reading I wouldn't buy an early ticket and doubt I'd have gone at all most years. I travelled to Glasto, Phoenix, IOW and TITP years ago but these pins ain't what they used to be.

    • Do you think they'll release today's cupra pulse lineup?
    • I had a great time yesterday and came to the conclusion that everytime (or, more accurately, both times) I didn't have a great time at Primavera, it was water-related. Either there was too much of it (Thursday 2026) or there wasn't enough (Thursday 2022, week 1).
    • I sacrificed the first hour of the cure for Role model yesterday and oh man that was a good bet! That guy and his band are insanely good and an hour long only bangers!
