Drugs at Glastonbury?

Been to other festivals where you couldnt walk 5m without being offered something dodgy looking (and probably fake) Just wondered how open/blatant this is at Glasto together with police cracking down.

I would imagine this year there will be a distinct lack of 'legal high' stores due to recent press.

On the Wednesday were setting up in the campervan fields when we were approached by someone wanting to buy drugs. Did we look that dodgy? Also we were offered space cakes in the greenfields so it's fairly out in the open.

Depends where you are to be honest. Around the main stages i haven't seen alot being offered, but i was walking up to stone circle on my own and a group of men about 30 years older than me asked me if i was selling..

The only time I'd ever been asked if I wanted to buy drugs was when I watched 2manydj's in the dance tent in 09, apart from that I can't recall anyone ever asking me to buy or sell. I think it's pretty much safe to say it's practically legal to take drugs here though, you know a hell of a lot of people are gonna be doing them so as such there's no law enforcements implemented to the festival in regards to drugs, imagine a security guard walking around the festival trying to stop every single person intaking an illegal substance? Although I'm not an advocate of drugs in any way, it's just pretty much the way things go. It's not as bad in a way because the use of drugs here is hardly flaunted and exploited in your face, I went to a Gatecrasher festival in Brackley a few years ago and although you'd expect there to be a lot of drug use there, anything I'd have thought beforehand wouldn't have given the amount of pills and powders being thrown around in broad daylight infront of your very eyes. It was mental and pretty horrible.

2010 was our first year, We didn't get offered or asked at all, but the only place where folk look pretty spaced out was the dance area's, and that's mainly where you saw the legal high wrappers/canisters on the floors, but are they actually legal

I think it's pretty much safe to say it's practically legal to take drugs here though,

Alcohol?? Tobacco?? You think that's bad. I was even able to procure a substance called 'Diet Coca-Cola' which contains a very dangerous mind-warping drug called 'caffeine' on the Saturday morning... I was off my tits for literally milliseconds.

Alot of dealers kicking about up at The Stone Circle. Also alot of people getting arrested.

From what I witnessed this year I wouldn't say there is a big problem at Glastonbury with drugs. I never saw anyone either offering or asking for drugs, so being surrounded by people "pushing" drugs on to innocent young festival newbies was not something that I think is a regular occurance. However you could very often smell the familar odour of canabis and if I could smell it the so must also have the police that were on site. I think that quite a few people probally took a bit of cannabis for their own personal comsumption and on the whole this was expected (although not exactly legal). The police were from my own experience very relaxed, friendly and appeared as though were enjoying the festival atmosphere as much as the paying punters, so I presume that they didn't set out to look to make arrests for the odd joint being discreetly smoked, if it wasn't affecting the safety and welfare of other people on the site. From the crime figures (113 drug related offences) for this years festival, it looks to me as though the Police probally mostly concentrated on the indiscrete and those who were looking to sell drugs for profit, as if they had the intention of tracking down anyone smoking a joint the figure in my opinion would have been much higher.

I did see a few people getting arrested, but think as gibbin82 said, it was probably the more indiscreet festival goers that the police won't ignore - I saw people openly taking stuff now & then too but no more than I expected - we weren't offered anything over the weekend so it's not in your face the whole time!

I wouldn't say it was 'practically legal', maybe just a bit more of a relaxed outlook to it than your usual Friday night out on the town.

Drugs are just as illegal at glastonbury as they are anywhere else in the country.

If security catch you with a joint, you'll get more of a hiding off them than you would off the police.

Someone suggested that if you want to smuggle drugs you don't stick them up your own anal cavity but up that of your dog. They when the sniffer dogs show an interest it will just seem that they are being doggy friendly.

Seriously, I've never been directly offered or asked for drugs at Glasto (but maybe I look too straight/boring old fart). However up at the Stone Circle you'll find lots of very beautiful girls walking round with trays of interesting goodies.

I don't think Glasto is very different to most cities where you can get most things if you look hard enough though, as always, is it sensible to buy uncertain substances from total strangers?

Some chap was walking around the stone circle offering magic mushrooms brownies. After paying twenty quid for two, consuming them and waiting two hours it became apparent that the only thing magical about them was the delicious taste.

However while we sitting at our tent at 8am a guy walked past shouting breakfast and was giving out free ketamine.
