blimey 6 CDs! Including a live version of the crystal ship...I love that song. No LA Woman or strange days though, my other favs

Pretty sure they only played LA Woman twice, Jims last 2 gigs. Both were shambolic apparently.

LA Woman was only brand new work in progress then. Hadn't even been anywhere near recorded at that stage.

With all the recent high profile deaths, this one had completely passed me by.

Dan Hicks

Definitely deserves to be in this Legends thread even if most people probably have no idea who he is. So glad I saw him live at WOMAD back in 2003 on a rare UK visit.

are you not familiar with the Cardiacs? You've missed out big time.

They're quite possibly the most original and inventive British band of the eighties. If you can find it I recommend you track down their tape that's (I think) called 'A little man and a house and the whole world window' 'The Seaside'.

I saw them absolutely loads of times - the first few times they looked and acted very much like they do in that video. It's the only time I've seen a band and had difficulty believing that the madness on stage was just an act and wasn't the result of insanity.

They were an absolutely superb band. It's sad that Tim (the singer) has been seriously ill for a few years following a stroke. :(

A benefit show for Tim, in Preston, Saturday, 16 Jul 2016

there's rumours starting to float around that Talking Heads have got back together and are in the studio, have written eight new songs, and are planning a world tour at the end of 2017.

There's things which makes me doubt all of it .... but pleeeeease, be true.

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.
