Hendrix has died....

Yes, on this day 18th Sept 1970 Jimi Hendrix died in London.

And so I have my annual hommage...joss sticks and his music all day.

Over the years, this has took on various forms.

When I was a lot younger, I used to actually take a day off work, without fail.

Good few times would get laced up to the gills with whatever was on offer, but of course latterly with the kids and that...celebrations have been a bit muted.

And so, I sit here now with the iPod on,looking at me Jimi poster in the front room (lounge/sitting room & parlour to you lot!).

Remmy-nissing.

Aye. James Marshall Hendrix. imo easily the most influential and ahead of his time electric guitarist of all time.

xxxxxx Jimi

I was stuck in a Hotel room abroad on Thursday night. Flicking through the TV channels I came across what I think was a German Jimi documentary which had subsequently been subtitled and voiceovered into French. Could hardly understand a word as the German interpreters and then the French overdubbers both spoke over the (mainly) English speaking interviewees, but the performances were untouched and there was at least one that I hadn't seen before.

I haven't looked, is there anything on the telly over here to mark the 40 years?

Nowt on TV I`ve spotted so far, which is a shame really considering what an icon he is.

However, a mate has just told me that there is something on Radio2 on tues night, so will look out for that.

On BBC4, Wednesday 1045pm - Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child, and Friday 950pm Rock Shrines:Tribute to Jimi Hendrix, 1000pm Jimi Hendrix: Guitar Hero.

The Radio 2 programme is presented by Jerry Hall, seems a bit odd.

It's the Woodstock DVD for me tonight.

West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology being released on November 15th. Four CDs of unheard studio and live recordings, some when he was playing with Little Richard and the Isley Brothers, and a DVD with a documentary. Looks great.

Apart from the guitar playing, he wrote one of the coolest opening lines in any rock song ever.

"Well, I stand up next to a mountain,

And I chop it down with the edge of my hand".

Simply an amazing lyric. And then he wails in with that wah wah!! TAKE THAT SOCIETY!! Granny scaring music.

"This guy had a dick, like an anaconda head swinging in the wind"

    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
