Isn't that because you've got the original to compare it to though? Even a crap cover of a class tune is going to sound good if you don't know how good the original was.

In part, but mostly it was awful because she couldn't hold a note, and the band were rubbish. I'd have thought it awful for an act that's somehow got huge even if it wasn't a song I knew.

Fair enough. Have to say the slightest thought of going to see her didn't even begin to consider the remotest possibility of crossing my mind. Sounds like a good move.

I didn't go and see her either. I just had the misfortune of walking past that stage twice (to & from my tent) while she was playing.

I'd seen her before and thought her decidedly average then, but she was far worse than that for the snippets I caught as I walked past.
