:) Thanks. By morals I mean things like Charity, community etc. Essentially the morals of Glastonbury, I mean the amount of money they raise is a good thing and when you meet new people there it is makes a great weekend. So why would God kill festival goers (Which I think is what this topic is about...I forget  ) But I don't think everyones evil in the Church, lets face it the pope can be an 'old man', (says crap that is generations behind). Festivals are about staying with the times, so of course beliefs are going to clash. But just because the teachings are behind doesn't mean the people are and I trust one day it will catch up.

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want

He maketh me to lie down in green pasture,

He leadeth me beside still waters, he restoreth my soul.

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his namesake

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

I fear no evil, for thou art with me.

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.

Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Luke 6:37

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

We will know the work of forgiveness is complete when we experience the freedom that comes as a result. We are the ones who suffer most when we choose not to forgive. When we do forgive, the Lord sets our hearts free from the anger, bitterness, and hurt that previously imprisoned us.

These are not the thoughts of a mad "God botherer", it is a Bishop saying these things, Bishops know a lot about this sort of thing. I am merely passing on his wisdom. My late husband attended Glastonbury many times and I know in the early years he took drugs and succumbed to the flesh (before we met). He last attended Glastonbury in 2007, he was taken one week after his return. He was only 59. Whilst you may not think you live a decadent lifestyle and music isn't bad per se, I myself am fond of Lena Martell and Foster and Allen, a lot of trouble does follow it around.

It's too late for my husband to repent, it's not too late for you.

I was brought up a catholic and although i no longer practice, it continues to be "me" somehow. In the same way I guess as you can't change your race, I feel a bit like my religion in ingrained. That said, I try to hold with the bits about being nice to people and not judging others. (The putting others first is the bit of a catholic upbringing that is hardest to lose). However, there are other bits I choose to take at a level of practicality and decide God wasn't really that serious about them or that maybe the people who wrote it all down weren't listening properly. I hope I am not going to hell for this, but as some bits seem not to fit in with the "being nice to people", & "not judging people" which I consider the most important bits.

I may be off beam, but to me the whole anti-homosexuality and anti condoms thing seem to be simply based on one of the seven deadly sins being lust (The seven deadly sins are a bit of an immovable if you are Pope). That is to say that sex outside of the purpose of procreation is lust, therefore not allowed, ruling out not only homosexuality and condoms, but 99.9% of the sex that takes place anywhere, ever, regardless of sexuality.

As one of the others is gluttony, I am also in trouble for the amount of chocolate i get through, and whilst I'm on this message board when i should be at work, I'm probably scoring a fair few minus points for sloth.

So I'm just going to carry on trying to treat people how I'd like them to treat me, and hope that when my time comes, God doesn't tell me I got it too wrong.

That'd be about right - but like i say - it's ingrained, I can't live with all of it, but somehow, will never be without it either!

I've just been an dug out this fantastic letter, which i love, and which seems appropriate to this thread....

In her radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance.

The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, penned by a US resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative:

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination ... End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them.

1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination? Should I smite him?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev.20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I'm confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your adoring fan.

P.S. It would be a damn shame if we can't own a Canadian.

Dr Laura to whom that letter is addressed "resigned" from her radio show when she said the word "nigger" eleven times when speaking to an African-American caller.

That's the level of intellect we are dealing with her when you are talking about people claiming homosexuality is a sin.

    • Saw David Gray 8 times between 2000 and 2025 (including one solo acoustic performance in Wexford, IE, 2017) and he always delivered. I enjoyed every show, never felt bland or let down an iota. To each their own. Yeah, it’s just that he’s not your cup of tea I’m afraid.   Agree that David is a bad dancer though lol.
    • Its massively bonkers the cost now amd it means missing out on some gigs but buying into only promotes it. Im more annoyed at gigs that are cheap that I have to resist as I'm far too tired after work.
    • Yeah I mean first time seeing them sure, I was the same in 2010. Their arena tour got a bit boring, it was like just get on with it. Feeder being in a tent was silly really, there is a difference between being around 4th down on main stage snd then moving that crowd into a tent.
