one of the highlights of the weekend for me too, got up there about ten o'clock, caught the end of the saw doctors and so the tent virtually emptied and i got right up near the front..loved it, great end to the festival for me :)

I went.. I have to say I loved the first two albums but havent heard their more recent stuff and I only stayed for the first half of the set cos I thought the newer songs were shockly awful! Loved Whipping Picadilly and the other old ones they did, they totally kicked ass.. just couldnt get my head round the new stuff.. they sounded like a second rate Dodgy!

We hotfooted it from the Pyramid as Stevie finished so we caught the end. Gomez never disappoint, one of my favourite bands of all time and I couldn't bear to totally miss them. How We Operate was a stunning way to end the festival for me. Brilliant, brilliant band.

Was my only absolute 'must-see'.

I was also impressed at the quality of the crowd - They didn't really need to give the band microphones as the audience was singing every word. Ben even thanked them/us (I like to think genuinely) for the efforts.

Went for the first half of it, and then regrettably left for the 'Chemical Brothers secret set' that Worthy FM had all but announced. But that's another story I don't want to start fuming about again...

I love Gomez and have seen them a dozen times or so, but not for five or six years, I guess.

Thought the first half of the set was good and was just getting into it and in two minds about leaving for 'The Chems', but my friends were all keen to go. I really don't feel the new stuff. Far too indie schmindie and radio friendly, and they seemed to have dumbed down their act somewhat from when they were at the peak of their powers and playing on bigger stages years ago. Ben's voice seemed under-utilised in that first half of the set, the multi-layered harmonies were vastly reduced and there were lots of over extended guitar solos. They seemed to have made a conscious decision to move slightly away from their blues roots and push slightly closer to the indie mainstream. You're all going to tell me that the second half of the set was absolute gold and they played nothing but tracks from the first two albums now, aren't you?

Looks like they could well be there again!

Hopefully on a bigger stage this time, or headlining JP. Would make a great WH headliner, imo.

Don't think they've ever been big enough to justify a JP headline slot, i'd be perfectly happy with another Avalon headline set though. It was siily convenient from Rodrigo Y Gabriella. If they could play on a day with a worthwhile West Holts headliner again i'd be well chuffed.

Saturday or Sunday are good forme so far!

It was, still rates as one of the greatest gigs of my life, they killed it that night.

I loved them last year, lovely way to end my festival and if I had realised the time they were coming on would have caught some of orbital too. Avalon was perfect/a little small for them it seemed, but the atmosphere was tremendous both inside and when I was chilling outside with a doobie.

I'd love it if they could be headlining somewhere Saturday night, I don't really fancy coldplay or the chems personally.

Sorry to dampen the enthusiasm, but I met Ben a few weeks ago and asked him if a Glasto appearance was on the cards....he said much as he loved the festival, it's his birthday that weekend so he didn't want to work and had planned to go away with the missus....would love it if they decided to play tho (even Ben solo, his new album has some great tracks on it and a set on the acoustic stage would be great)...

I know, bit of a bummer...sorry! On the plus side, at least they are playing somewhere and I can see them in Dublin! Ben was in great form when I saw him, played solo in a tiny room to about 30 people and finished his set with an acoustic version of Tijuana Lady....marvellous!

    • The weekend in general has been amazing, but today was especially good.   The top three of Ice Nine Kills played, Bas Omens and Wntee Shakei, unsipable
