Berba did a 'bicycle' kick earlier this season (a little less of an 'overhead' than Rooney's yesterday), and if my memory isn't lying (and it might be) wasn't that a goal?

From the little I remember of it, it took more skill than Rooney needed yesterday - not because Rooney did anything amiss, he struck the ball as sweetly as it's possible to - but because he had less time and space than Rooney had yesterday.

GAH! :O

All you coonts are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden, it used to be a nice RS free zone on here (bar Neil of course)

PMSL - it's your hatred of LFC that has you labelling me a Liverpool fan - something I've not been for nearly 30 years.

Some people just can't see thru whatever colour mist they have.:lol:

Have to agree here. Both goals stunning but Berbs' one is just a little classier with arguably greater technique.

Thanks for the agreement.

And just to check whether your word counts for more than others, do you happen to know the official name of the game that's commonly called 'football' or 'soccer'? Cos the person who thinks that views like ours are 'retarded' seems to think the game is just called 'football', even tho there's a huge clue in the name of the club he pretends to support.

Both are excellent goals. I can't help but feel this argument wouldnt even be going on if Fergie hadn't come out saying it was "the best ever at Old Trafford". Rooney's just his little protege, everything he does is the best thing since sliced bread in Sir Alex's eyes.

Having said that for me Rooneys is more impressive. Like the Nal says he got 4 feet into the air! To get it on target, especially since the last minute ajustment of his feet due to the flight of the ball is impressive enough, until it comes off the left back's back he's expecting a header. To put it out of the reach of the goalie is definitely something special.

But Rooney got four foot up in the air!

where I'm coming from with this is that Rooney had all the time and space in the world to do that, while Berba didn't.

From one angle*, Rooney's was a training ground goal. If he tried to do that in training he'd be asking for the ball to be delivered exactly where it was, and he'd have all of the same time and space to hit it.

(*And I'll say it again [cos there's too many morons round here ;)], I'm not in any way knocking what Rooney did. No one could have hit it better, it was a superbly taken goal)

So, anyone been to Estadio Mestella?

On the domestic front, our attack looks not be a problem for the rest of the season. With both Keane & Obinna's injuries not as bad as first feared, and Ba, Cole, & Piquionne all in good form, we're looking good. Just a pity all bar Tomkins of our five senior centre halves are a bit poo...

Hopefully with Hitzelsperger finally fit (he looks as though he will play against Burnley), he may add some steel to the midfield.

Ba looks great. He might save you yet.

would that be the same steel you tried to tell me he didn't have, cos I'd not seen him play since his Villa days? :P

    • Not my experience. I've always got the size I paid for.
    • Kind of crackers how fast this summer seems to be sailing by. But aye, must be some news soon!
    • I am very possibly wrong about this but I do think that the pitch you get allocated appears to be related to your time of arrival, (i.e. you get the next one available) rather than the price you paid for a small, medium or large pitch.  They all appear to be the same size to me.
