You obviously never saw the game, we did play one up front :)

I didn't see the game.

But I've heard and read lots of comments, including plenty from Rangers fans (Sky text, page 459) who agree with me that Rangers had little choice last night but to play how they did do (to defend and defend and defend), via which they were able to minimise the gulf that exists between the teams.

It doesn't mean that there wasn't that gulf, it means it can be overcome to some extent by tactics.

====

Meanwhile I've just read the most amusing words by Smith, calling EUFA incompetent for allowing that gulf to be created ... meanwhile Rangers only get into the Chumps League because of a much larger gulf in Scottish football. Didn't anyone ever tell him that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones?:lol:

Well he has a point, UEFA always favours the big teams. From next season the Champions of Scotland will have to go through 2 qualifiying groups to get into the so called 'Champions' league whereas England will still get 4 places, 2 being automatic.

Yep, UEFA does. And the likes of Rangers were very happy about when it was working in their favour. ;)

But what happens when Rangers get what they ask for, and there's an even playing field for both Europe and Scotland? Rangers would be worse off than they are now, because as things are they'll make those qualies every year, but with an even playing field in Scotland to match what they want for UEFA they won't do.

Be careful what you wish for. :)

If I did know I wouldn't point you in the direction of the video, it's wrong to watch such a video hence why Sky Sports never showed a replay. Why would anyone want to watch a video of someones horrific injury, it was bad enough watching it at the time!

Yet the Zamora one got countless replays. ;)

There will never be an even playing field in Scotland, Rangers and Celtic will always be the biggest teams with the odd team challanging for 2nd place every now and again.

Then accept the same for Europe if you're happy with how thing are in Scotland. After all, it's the exact same thing. :)

Either you want fair competition or you don't. Picking and choosing things to always be just to your advantage is not anything that's fair.

they can complain, but it will fall on deaf ears. did you want the manc police to risk similar trouble happening again just not to upset some rangers fans?

rangers fans are notorious for acting like twats away from home. not all but some. and until they can behave like civilised adults, they should get treated in such a way.

if their jolly to spain and turkey go without incident, then i'll be very surprised.

I would be happy with a more competitive league in Scotland (watching it is hard work at the best of times) but it's just not going to happen because of the size of Rangers and Celtic compared to all the other clubs. It's just unfair how a team can win the SPL and have to go through 2 qualifying rounds whereas a team that finished 4th in the Premier League only has to go through one!

    • Ok, ok, I have done it! Not because of limitless upvoats but to support the Efestivals site.
    • She was/is 100% in the mix, but I don't know specific timings and how it relates to that interview. They've clearly gone after her, again.   It could be read in a number of ways - she was in negotiations at that point, she was talking about BST (and he's interpreted it, as we have, as Glastonbury). Who knows
    • So sad to see the news that John Douglas of the Trashcan Sinatras has died. They only released their latest album last week and it is wonderful.  So underrated and a member of such a great long running band that have meant so much to me over the last 40 years. https://trashcansinatras.com/blogs/news/john-douglas-1963-2026
    • listening to jamie east's podcast earlier he said that he'd heard fender is confirmed, and that as of 2 weeks ago Madonna hadn't been approached.
    • which would make that Graham Norton interview nonsense .... although obviously things change
