Working today/this week

Revising, exams, church and a gig last night. I'm pretty much doing all I can to avoid thinking about it too much or I'll get all giddy. :D

Suppose I should start getting my gear together for next week.

I have mostly been posting pessimistic predictions on the weather thread generally pissing people off, sorry. However for the past 30 minutes or so I have been doing some actually work, you know the stuff they pay me for.

Bugger all on the whole.

I've just received confirmation that I start my new job in September, beginning with a paid-for year back in education. I'm chipper as a w*nking monkey at the moment to be honest, and feel justified in doing basically nothing between now and glastonbury, knowing that I have a new start once I get back. This is in spite of the fact I've just been put onto a high profile project at my current work. I'll balls this up and walk away from the burning rubble in september. Lurrrrrvly.

For the past two weeks i've been really busy doing all my colleague's work as well as mine (as she's been on her honeymoon), which has made the time go really fast and has been brilliant as it means it's closer to Glastonbury. She's back today though and i'm back to doing very little; mostly wasting time on here and emailing my friends. I can imagine this next week being really sloooow.

Only 4 and a half days left!

I was looking for something new too actually (for too many reasons to list here). I found a job I really liked, spent a while on my covering letter etc. only to be told that (thanks to c*nt features Cameron) they've had to stop recruiting for the role due to the civil servant recruitment freeze. Gutted.

I was in Edinburgh for a friend's stag weekend (we dressed him up as Freddie Mercury from the "I want to break free" video) so I haven't been getting excited about Glasto because that was happening before it, but now I'm starting to.

Got rest of week at work, which is rubbish but I won't come round from last weekend until Friday and by then I'll be done!

:P

Mate that's a nightmare, really sorry to hear that. It's not easy getting Civ Serv jobs, I've looked into them myself.

My new job is in the NHS and I was really worried about something similar happening. At my interview I asked about it and they said they'd been able to secure the funding for the training position but that it had been touch and go. Think I may have just sneaked in before the door shut. My training is for four years so I'm hoping the shit-storm will have blown over by the time i'm looking for a full time position.

I've actually just started a new role at the same company. It's pretty slack at the moment, but I expect they'll start demanding stuff of me very soon.

Also, I've volunteered to do some, um, volunteering at this weekend's Leamington Spa Peace Festival. It's a free festival with the blessing of the authorities, like a very mini East side of Glastonbury.

If you go, and you see a bloke with a silly beard wearing a Peace Festival t-shirt, come and say hello.

Thanks man. Kind of half expected it because the tories were bound to be elected. Still gutted though. I was even asked about possible interview dates! Good luck with yours though, sounds good. :) Did you get it through the NHS directly?
