I'm with you. Nothing funny about it in any way shape or form.

I've thought about it a lot since the series started and am horrified when I hear people laughing at the situation these people find themselves in.

why? it's in their nature to be c**ts. if you offered them help out of the rut, they wouldn't take it. just like the guy who was taken in by that woman and he got kicked out. for being a c**t. some people are beyond help sadly.

These people are a product of their social circumstances, have no where to go and no means of escape.

I would regard someone who can go on holiday to Benidorm whilst not working, afford a massive TV that I can only dream of and afford private lets for their children without paying a penny - as being the very definition of fortunate tbh.

And regards there being no means of escape - thats the biggest load of crap I've ever read. They could go on to university and still not need to pay a penny (theres no tuition fees in Scotland and they'd get a hefty bursary as well) And I know plenty of people that have been to the school that they are going to (or not as the case may be) and they have managed to get to uni - its a decent secondary school.

Yes its a cycle - because their parents dont work, they dont, and then they have kids etc etc. But the current situation is unsustainable. More money is given out in benefits than is taken in income tax. With an aging population - ie more and more honest working people will be taking out their pensions in the future - something has to be done about this.

It illustrates the vicious circle of poverty and poor education. Theres nothing funny about them, or impressive about how "hard" they might be. Its a different world to the world I live in, and I dont know the answers, but even though these people do have opportunities in life, they wont realise it most of the time - because by the time they reach anything approaching their teens - a lot of them are already tied up in gangs and petty crime.

That little 5 year old girl doesnt stand a f**king chance. Beautiful, innocent little girl being f**ked up by scumbags.

to be honest, i find it all funny. the only thing i don't find funny is that the sweet wee lassie is going to turn out like the rest of them, and that the older woman got cancer.

well i was brought up in a scheme and still went to uni as do thousands every year. yes, you are a product of your environment to a certain extent but you also have free will.

i lived in a scheme from when i was born til i was 21, with junkies, drug dealers, wife beaters, bullies and just general arseholes living around me.

i did have places to go and a means of escape. i moved out of the scheme. just like anyone can if they can be arsed. we all have other options available to us, it just depends how hard you are willing to work to get the things you want..
