Waterproofs?

Optimistic thread title. Pity about the pessimism in the main text. :P

I was also there for '05 &'07. I have at least one great picture. Can anyone tell me how to post pictures on here. Tried this week but the obvious didn't work and am too busy/lazy/stupid/moving onto other things etc to find out the method myself at the moment.

Aaaaanyway, back on topic.

In the past I have been called a wimp and accused of not being "in the spirit" for saying that I have, occasionally, carried rainproof gear around. We are not all capable of being tough, T-Shirt and Shorts in any weather type tough guys for 5 days you know. It's a balance between the old packing lightly, against inconvenience type question thingy. Should you carry around a waterproof top and leggings? If so, will the necessary bag/rucksack inconveniece you and everyone else it gets in the way of?

I am still not sure.

It is a pain carrying them around if it doesn't rain, but a godsend of a rush of feeling smug, clever and comfortable if it does piss down torrentially unexpectedly and you can quickly change/cover up and still wander about to where you want to go and follow your Glasto game plan when certain types are rushing back to their tents or hiding in the nearest marquee until it stops.

Best option? Who knows?

Buy what you think you can afford that is really waterproof and packs light I think, and then look at The Sky, and in particular The Clouds in the evening/morning/whenever you leave your tent. Low grey clouds moving faster than the the higher white clouds? Fast Wind? Drop in air pressure? Red skoi in da noight/mornin?, What are the cows doing? How are the locals dressed? etc, etc.

Or you could check the weather forecast on your ipadphonemybookspacefacepageappthing.con occasionally.

Other sugesstions?

I always take my army surplus poncho, its just perfect to cover all in no time (especially if you have a back pack) and to sit on if the ground is wet. A pair of willies are a must (with long socks no to get sour feet)

Yay !!

Weather forecasters predict that we may be in for a sizzling summer

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/weat...icle7127293.ece

"There are signs, though, that the dry conditions may be broken at the end of May and early June, when our usual wet westerly winds return – a phenomenon so regular at this time of year that it is sometimes called the European monsoon."

maybe I'm still packing the wellies..
