Coming from Oz also but not so lucky to be coming from a capital city - driving from Central Queensland to the big smoke, about 7 hours, flight from Brissy to Heathrow via Sydney and Bangkok - roughly estimated at a minimum of 39 hours travel time from our door to Heathrow! Oh and to add a bit of spice to the mix we are traveling with two kids in tow........

First ever Glasto and definitely not the last... gave up watching the NRL Grand final to get these tickets (went on sale at the same time as the match) and we know its going to be worth it a million fold.

I'll be leaving County Tyrone in Northern Ireland on the Monday evening before the festival to get to Pilton bright and early on the Wednesday morning.

It's a three hour drive to Dublin where i'll get a few hours kip and pick up some mates. We'll leave Dublin around 5/6 o'clock on Tuesday morning to catch a ferry a 9 o'clock from Rosslare to Pembroke. From there it's a scenic drive across the industrial landscape of South Wales to stock up on booze and food in the Adsa-Walmart Superstore in Bristol. Then on to Shepton Mallet for about 7 o'clock in the evening to relax with a couple of pints before retiring to bed in our B&B above the pub. Up early the following morning for the last couple of miles via the back roads to Pilton. The road trip has become an essential part of our Glastonbury experience over the years.

Coming from Bognor Regis

First time in 20 years that I will not have driven... :P

So the road trip is a whole new think for me as I normally drive.

However this does have some benefits on the Sunday because I can get muntered without worrying about stopping drinking.

Is the Seaplane service still working from Gozo?

I know the mechanic but have not been out there since last March.....

Well you are doing a big effort to get a free beer. Take care to land in the right place. Its just next to the big volcano ash cloud. Just south of it, that is if you can fly through it.

And i think you will be disqualified because you are trying to cheat, The average distance from Mars is 78,341,212 Km ( I always thought that aliens were all bluff)

It's the focus of my trip, but I'm actually spending three weeks in the UK seeing concerts...a couple before in London (Richard Thompson, Elvis Costello), then Jackson Browne, Jack Johnson and Laura Marling back in London, Hop Farm and finally Jools Holland at Kew before I head home.

This is likely a once in a lifetime chance for me, so I'm making the most of it.

Coming from Haarlem in Holland, and it's always so nice to meet people and they say you've come from that far, but it only takes us 4 hours (including the waiting at the airport) door to door. A lot of Brits travel much longer I think. We arrive tuesday night at Pilton and we'll be knocking at the door wednesdaymorning......yoehoe!!!!

QUOTE (tevaburger @ May 7 2010, 05:54 PM)

wasn't last year's Saturday headliner from there?

and if you see the Gaslight Anthem lads walking around, can you ask them if they're playing on Sunday and if not, find out what the f**k happened with their misbooking?

They're all from New Jersey - I live in the original one :-)
