Where did this 1 come from Neil ? I know they are playing the extravagansa but 2 years in a row ( not counting the L.V. from the other year .

It's come from them playing the Extravaganza.

It doesn't defo mean they'll play the fest, tho it does make them a decent possible. So they've been rumoured. :P

Well i hope they do play agian. I saw them in LV in 07 and they were fantastic. Couldn't go to the fest last year so an appearance would be great :P

Were great in LV three years ago. Went down there on my own after my mate gave me something he said would help with the long walk... turned out to have the opposite effect and fell over in the mud. Got carried back to the old railway by a lovely couple from Sheffield, trekked right down the end and peaked while they played House of Fun. Then broke the world record for kissing. Brilliant night, so glad I ditched the Killers and Iggy!

Do you skip through albums to get to the songs you've heard on the charts as well?

Surely if you don't care which bands are playing you care even less about which songs they play? Only going by your comments elsewhere of course....

No you have misconstrued me... I love madness and they are heros of mine since schools days, albeit they are not a band I keep up to date with (i guess many in the crowd were in same boat)

I enjoyed the set but the atmosphere seemed to dip when they did some new material - If you look closely at my other recent posts about set lists I think mid afternoon bands would do better by blasting out their greatest hits.. thats all!

I think opinions will always be different thats what makes a forum.. If we all agreed with everything written then we might as well stop posting

Fair enough, but I think a band like Madness have earnt the right to play whatever they like in what was a massive gig for them. They have new material that they would have worked hard on and it deserves an airing. I'm a big Madness fan and have seen them many times, the classics are great and obviously went down well but you have to respect them as musicians for wanting to play their new stuff.

I feel the same on the U2 debate, I'm a massive fan of their earlier work but haven't taken much notice of the last couple of albums. I went to see them in Cardiff last year hoping for a greatest hits set, they did loads of hits but also lots of new stuff that I'd ignored on the radio and it came across brilliantly.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and again that opinion will differ from person to person. But I think the Pyramid stage will get very stale very quickly if all people are expecting are older acts playing greatest hits sets.

Loved the Madness set last year, new material and all. They got enough classics into that set for anyone, I would have thought.

From memory they played Dust Devil, NW5, and Forever Young from their latest abum, of which Dust Devil will belong in any future "Best Of" they may do in my opinion. Am I imagining they played "I Chase the Devil" as well?

They still had plenty of time for the Baggy Trousers/Night Boat stuff.

Awesome gig, better than the Specials as a show I thought, would love it if they played again.

I went to see madness last year and left after about 7 songs, 6 of which I'd never even heard of and presume they were new songs. Think they thought they were playing to a Madness crowd rather then a festival crowd which had been there 4 days already. And they also followed Tom Jones who played back to back hits and was one of the best acts all weekend

Mates tell me the back end of the set was quite good but I think quite a lot of the crowd had left or lost interest from what I could see.
