Festival Republic Stage

The National to headline, they have a big gap in their tour dates http://www.americanmary.com/tour.php

The Antlers also have a big gap, would be epic http://antlersmusic.com/tour/

Frightened Rabbit my third choice hopefully will also play http://www.myspace.com/frightenedrabbit

Keeping my fingers crossed lots and lots. If I ask for it enough then who knows, they might play.

A little late to the sonic youth praise part of this thread, but i thought that Sonic Youth would be sure-fire headliners after they released the eternal... damn you festival republic!

Honestly, my very best dreams involve seeing them play the diamond sea in its full 25 minute format live...even if that is just a dream :P

And given their recent reform and such, any chance of Godspeed You! Black Emperor? Or will the fact that they are curating ATP scupper that?

Looking at those National dates, I think you could be right. Headlining Friday or Sunday and I'll be there. I've assumed Frightened Rabbit would play for a while now, could get slotted in mid NME on Saturday or Sunday, or top 3 on FR stage. In fact, I'll keep my fingers crossed for these being the top two on Sunday.

The National would be perfect for Reading Sunday assuming I don't like the dance headliner. Not sure how popular they would be, however I can't think of a better way to close the festival.

They'd probably get a decent sized crowd full of confused/bored-looking people who've read their name on that Goo tour t-shirt and think they should like them... Talked to a guy wearing one of those once who couldn't name a single song or anything at all about them. Bit like what happened with RATM.

    • I’ve said it elsewhere too but Emily Eavis said a 2028 headliner was booked, to me that’s only going to be someone the size of Oasis or Taylor Swift
    • Christ didn't even see that!
    • It does feel very bland. It would certainly spell another year (my third, I think) away from Pyramid headliners for me. That doesn't mean they aren't worthy, though. I don't follow what any of them are up to, as it isn't my thing. Good luck to them.   You would think coming off a fallow year, they would want one big hitter. 'Big hitter' is obviously open to debate, but that was/is Madonna. Let's have it right. The eggs have gone in that basket, and it seems (as far the rumours go) that it's blown up. So now you're left with another plan B/replacement headliner.   I'm still of the opinion that Oasis will do it, before the Oasis thing is all said and done. Probably 2028, if they can come to an agreement. It may transpire that 2027 is bland (or at least to some of us), and 2028 is a bit... wild.   Again, though, none of us categorically know ANY of the headliners, as it stands.
