Diana Vickers?

She's a credible artist, so what she was on the X Factor two years ago. Get over it. She's gone to the start and taken her time writing her own album, and playing small venues instead of going straight to arena's like most X Factor artists. Dont' get me wrong, I HATE the X Factor, it's ruining music. But Diana is alright.

As a thirty something year old - it does make me laugh that people will simply not like an artist because they were on X Factor..... having said that, I think I was pretty much the same 15 - 20 years ago!

I remember the days when there was a mini outrage when it was announced that Kylie would headline the tent!!

There wouldn't be an eye batted if she was announced topping the main stage bill these days.

V has definitely moved on and obviously now appeals to a far more mainstream crowd, its not a bad thing as such, its a shame for those who used to enjoy attending but don't bother any more or at least don't enjoy the music half as much as they used to.

I still do Reading and will probably do Pearl Jam in Hyde Park as an alternative to V this year, its a shame though as I was a regular attender from 97-08 and I did used to enjoy it.

  • 4 weeks later...

Diana Vickers has done some amazing stuff since moving on from the X-Factor and it would be nice if she goes round the festival circuit this summer.

The Big Top 40 hosted a video chat with her recently and I think some of you would be interested in watching it. Check it out:- http://www.bigtop40.com/features/diana-vickers-video-chat/

No, not just becasue the song is laughable, I'm saying these sanitized, powder puff, here today gone tomorrow artists (and you can also add Cheryl Cole and The Sugababes etc.. to that list) shouldnt play V at all ......

I've been over this before in this thread - but I don't think we should accept this mentality of "catering for everyone". Doing this lessens the Festival IMO, and if it carries on you'll end up paying £165 to see 2 bands you like over the weekend.

Or... i'll go with the logical thinking here over your biased view.

People who go to V are generally okay with the acts that perform. You must've known what kind of acts would be announced so why didn't you expect this? or indeed go to another more rock orientated festival

    • As someone that always likes looking at this stuff, compare the BBC opening titles...     ... and the ITV ones.     Tbf the BBC intro is better than the ones they used for the last World Cup, which I thought were pretty bad and on its own, the BBC choice actually isn't too bad. It's not as good as their pinball one for the last Euros, but the concept is reasonable. But let's be real, the ITV one is better.

    • Another new one from Overmono.   Album is shaping up nicely.
    • I'm only judging by highlights but considering that I saw a lot of anxieties from US fans about them getting it wrong after several bad results in the last year or so, they very much had it on opening night. Might be as much about Paraguay being a long way from the team that beat Brazil and Argentina in qualifying though.   Canada also doing something in a World Cup other than lose and arguably be good enough to have beaten Bosnia means reasonable start. Think they might regret not winning though.
