I think I love you!

Brilliant explanations and a bloody good job of explaining quite a few things to those less initiated...and stubborn to believing that 2 men and some machinery can actually 'play live' and vary the tunes at every single different concert. Apart from living for this band completely THIS is the reason I go to see them at least 3 times within a tour and in a festival season and ending up with 35+ concert viewings since 1995. The 2004 shows were variant enough but not quite enough as this recent set of shows as you have explained why and I am super appreciative of that info. I have been shouting this from the heights since 1995 about this issue.

As you no doubt can tell from years of putting up with me on these forums and the love for all things Hartnoll I stand very much in the brigade shouting form the heights that electronic music performers are VERY MUCH able to play 'live' and as I sit here typing this I am listening to a copy of the Friday Brixton show from last September and know full well that it is a totally unique and a very varied version of the show I saw but 4 weeks earlier and a couple of other times during the summer. In fact I have to say the Brixton show was the pinnacle of the return last summer (and well worth me buggering up any life or settling in Australia for!)

I totally accept that we will live in each of our own worlds of fandom and love for our particular favourite band and type of music...so to all the bodlings out there who diss the Hartnolls and Tom and Ed and all the other dance bands...give us a break...we see these performers cos they DO perform and if you perhaps got to more than just one show in a season and keep your ear to the ground you WILL see a difference between each performance in the same way a guitar riff may be played differently or a drum solo may alternate from before.

Jesus....this Brixton show is STUNNING. Every little nuance, tweak and additional sound totally different from anything ever performed before and nothing like what you hear on the cds of old....oh and I havent come across any tune from the 80s yet and have been listening for over an hour!

Edit: ... just listen to the end of the Satan...they NEVER did that before!!! Wibbly wobbly amazingness!

Sore point...we dont talk about that in LusciousLucyLand...and blame the Levellers and my mother equally.

If you want to catch Orbital in a very good location...Brighton Centre always does them very proud. Fingers crossed they get booked there again some time.

And you think 35+ is bad...wait til you meet Dave at the G...my mate and the guy who more or less got me started on my errant path...he is up to 55+ now BUT did go to uni in Sheffield in the Megadog years (git!) Blagging our way into Maida Vale for the John Peel final show was the highlight of our both our lives! We are two of the very noisy shouty buggers both on that show and the Brixton audio.

Plenty of other shouts and noises. Was one of the best nights ever. And no visuals either, just a wee room, the Loopz crew and hangers on and a few other folk on the mezzanine. Oh and John Peel 3 months before he left this earth.

And I was certaintly one of the people Sir John was referring to when he talks about the tears at the end of the gig. There were quite a few inconsolable bunnies in that small room that evening

Hmm...sounding different to last year already. Lush just went very different and wibbly. The recording doesnt have the depth of Brixton though.

I TRULY cannot wait for 26/06/10 to happen.

Yep, different drum sounds, weird filters, new bassline and chopping the riffs all over the place in that version of Lush! They ARE having fun : ) Same every night? Not a chance!

They put enough enormous grins across my face both when I am listening and especially when I am watching them...no need for laughs. Just super smily and happy to have them back even if they still just jump up and down and wave their hands in the air.

After Mr J1mbo's explanations to how they perform its not as if they can get up and do a conga or breakdance midset now is it? Knob twiddling is a very fine art and they need to wave their hands from time to time to give their wrists and fingers a rest
