Straight Edge at Glasto

I can't be the only one who doesn't get sh!tfaced at Glasto surely?!?! I admit I'm not entirely teetotal/straight edge, but I don't get drunk or anything. My reason is because I want to take it all in, to remember every moment, and I can't cope with hangovers/comedowns. Last thing I want is to waste precious festival time feeling shitty in my tent and I feel high with the pure happiness of being there so I just don't need it.

So who else does the same as me?

I'll have a couple of drinks throughout the day and some wine when I'm back in my tent but I keep in control. There's too much to miss at Glastonbury and you can get pi$$ed any day.

I like to keep at a fairly merry level for the whole fest - it's no fun being so smashed you can't do anything (and it's also a shitty burden for your mates) but it IS fun feeling a little bit tipsy/happy and still being able to remember (mostly) everything afterwards. But there's no rules, if I don't fancy a drink I'm not going to have one. I think the general rule of thumb = know your limits.

I do get a bit messy, but manage to mainly stay in control until after the main stages have closed.

Last year I got a bit too messy on the Thursday night. Watching the sun rise at the stone circle was fantastic, but meant that Friday was a write-off. I intend to take things a little steadier this year (but the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, so if you see me at the stone circle at dawn, point me towards my tent and wish me a good night).

i'm not a straighthead..but i've calmed down a bit these days

25 now..getting old lol, back when I was I guess younger like 19 and that yea, I'd usually be a mess - while it was fun at the time (or i thought it was) I felt so fu***** crap for like 5 days after I just don't do it anymore

Plus as others have said you miss things, I remember 2007 standing at some stage barely paying attention as I felt so shit - so moderation is the key!

Does anyone else find, that at certain times at glasto, to get severely tanked, on booze at least, is sometimes more effort than its worth, and you end up simply settling for nicely merry?

Especially if youre watching bands. Toilets and bar, or your booze back at the tent/car etc, can often be some way away, through the crowd, and sometimes a queue for both.

On several occasions Ive found I'm too busy having fun to put in the effort it takes to chuck a ton of booze down me neck to get properly trousered. And of course you have the advantage of a more manageable hangover and not needing to sleep off quite as much of your precious glastotime.

Although from sober to cant speak drooling mess of gibberish, I think all levels of merryment are welcome on worthy farm! :P:P

Done my 'getting shit faced at Glasto' over the years. Last year because I was on my own I didn't drink too much. Had the best time ever!!

I was up really early wandering around the site while everyone else was sleeping! There is so much to see...and I will be doing the same again this year!** It's great getting up in the morning feeling really good and ready the new day!

** If I'm spotted staggering, pissed up on vodka near the Pyramid Stage I will deny I posted this :P

Ha! me too - I spend most of time being sensible due to work, commitments, etc

Glasto and other such events are my release and I am happily twatted and usually only suffer afterwards.

Worth it tho :P

There will be a modicum of vodka and that's about it. Gone past my getting muntered stage - ended up cracking 5 teeth in total, I was Queen Gurner :P . And got to point where I couldn't cope with the self loathing the next day - *shuddering* funny stuff makes me do decidedly unfunny things :P

Plus as others have said I don't want to miss a thing! *shuddering* Oh i came over all Ron Bovi then :P
