I just got my results for my a level modules today

I got a D in my physics so i have to resit, on the teusday after glastonbury

If i don't get a B then I don't go to uni

So I might have to cancel my ticket

anyone else in a similar pickle?

A-levels are phenomenally easy. A trained chimpanzee could acquire the grade you require, do not fret.

Go to the festival, have a great time then do an hours revision on the monday, have an early night and you'll be fine.

Christ, imagine what is was like in my day when exams were actually hard! It still didnt stop me going to glastonbury.

Additionally, what University are you going to? You are aware that unless you go to Oxbridge, LSE or maybe UCL you have no better chance of getting a decent job than someone who leaves school at 16? If fact, you have less chance than them as at least they have genuine real life work experince rather than gettign pissed for 3 years.

Have a look at the unemployment statistics and have a look at how many recent graduates are out of work, or in menial employment. Add to this tens of thousands of pounds worth of debt due to 3 years of reckless living and I have to say degrees these days are an utter joke.

Dont blame me, blame the Labour government.

Russy as much as you controversial comments are appreciated that is plain stupid, insensitive (to probably half of this forum's users) and media influenced.

Firstly I would love to see you take your A-levels again. I think you will find that graduates are in fact no worse off than any other sector of society. We have marginally just come out of recession. With recession comes unemployment - regardless of educational attainment. that sort of opinion is fuelled by media bias.

Yes degrees have lost currency but it shows employers you can think and apply yourself to a certain standard. They are still potentially worth several £1000's more pa once employed. Oh and actually you are no better off going to Oxbrigdge than any other Russell Group / redbrick university when it comes to getting a job. Wondering what I am basing this on? I'm a 2nd year Economics student and can categorically say all that you wasted internet space with is complete bollocks.

Apologies Dan R. I'm taking it you are U6/Yr 13 therefore I would say return your ticket and do some revision whilst watching on telly. Ignore the old duffers on here saying Glastonbury is worth more than an education and university. Your situation is rubbish but unfortunately I would say don't jeopardise your education for the sake of a festival because if you don't make the grade you will only be thinking what if I hadn't gone. First year I went I had to make the decision between my end of school ball or Friday at Glasto (when Kings of Leon were playing!!) very hard decision but went with the school ball and have never regretted it and know I would if I had chosen Glastonbury instead. Sorry mate but don't risk it!

Well that's just a stupid statement.

A-levels are definitely not easy and since i am guessing This person is doing sciencey stuff, without going to university it would be hard to get any decent jobs relating to this statement.

This kinda attitude is what is wrong with this country, not just the labour government. Who imo are doing better then either libs or conservative would be doing in the same situation,

Gonna wind my neck in and say Ed209 put it the way I meant to.

I agree with all they said but there is one thing I am not so sure about. What are people basing this easier exams statement on? If it is results how can we be sure it is not thy the stuff is being taught better than before?

Longer term there has evidently been a shift from wrote fact learning to theory and application. So maybe that is the root of the better results and therefore basis of these claims?

(but this is maybe a topic for education specialists rather than a Glastonbury forum?)

There are big problems with the sheer number of low quality/useless degrees out there. These people come out of univeristy and go straight into jobs they could have got after leaving school (but with a lot of debt). It happens a lot, and the government are to blame.

I cant speak for other courses. But in maths/phys the top universities are having to change their first year syllabus because the standard of entrants is lower, and don't know enough (but somehow have higher grades). This is a Fact.

Anyway, it is a glastonbury forum so better stick to the usual glastonbury boards chat.

I know this has been asked before, but does anybody think so and so who no one really cares about could play this year? Please!

And for all those people saying that thyre getting easier, maybe you're right, you'll have to take them again and compare

but it doesn't neccaerily make them easy, especially as this year is record breaking applicants for uni so it also makes them a lot more competitive.

I just think they are structured differently, and teaching is better.

I don't want to feed the trolls but can I just say A Levels are NOT easy. They have changed yes but they are definitely not something you can pass with only a couple of hours of revision.

Anyway, I'm going to have to be a bit careful this year as I have 2 exams on the Thursday and then one on the wednesday after Glasto, so I'm going to be starting revision for the summer a long time in advance to make up for the Glasto-shaped void in my revision timetable.

I'm hoping I don't end up regretting it, but this is the last Glasto I'll be at with my best friends before we all go off to different universities, so I couldn't really miss it.
