soni isnt shit line up, but their organisation is a shambles. Plus download have much more strength in their 3 headliners than soni's 3 including cooper. Elsewhere on the line up, i say download are edging it. I just think with reading booking a heavier line up this yr soni looks to have taken a hit.

If you all read the sonisphere website forum it says that there will be a announcement sometime this week.

"Next Announcement: Week Commencing 8th March 2010 - Time TBC"

which means any time this week not Monday the 8th just sometime this week. So will people stop bitching that they didn't get a announcement Monday

Sonisphere cant poist anything on their facebook page without at leats twenty people asking when this announcement is meant to be.

A few snipits:

Brandon J. Egley: I think they were going to post an announcement, tested the waters with manowar rumours - realized hardly anyone was bothered. Now they're trying to panic book someone else. Hopefully anyway. Luckily Maiden and Rammstein are awesome. But not awesome enough not to wait for the ticket give aways like last year!

Adam Waine: @Simon Powell - sounds like it doesn't it! f**kin hell - this ship is sinking. Fast.

Will Hancox: Get Slaves to Gravity at Sonisphere!

Sonisphere Festival: We'll announce when we're ready, deal with it. There won't be any free tickets this years don't hold out for them or you may find yourselves outside the gates when Rammtein are kicking off the most amazing festival show ever staged.

Owen Hodgson: No announcement this week? Christ almighty sort it out Sonisphere. Communication is terrible. What a sorry state of affairs.

Adam Waine: Grrrr, Sonisphere ANGRY! Haha. Fair enough. Just makes you look daft when you go on record promising an announcement and them pull out, doesn't it....

Alexander Brown: So it's gone from Monday to "this week" to "When we're ready"??? Fifty quid says Rammstein don't turn up! :-p

---------

Looks like they're loosing the plot now :P

update on the facebook page.....after everyone laid into sonisphere:

Easy guys, and apologies we don't have an announcement for you this week as we'd hoped we would. We don't do this to be annoying - you know we can't announce acts until the contracts are signed & sealed and quite often factors well outside of our control cause delays at very short notice in this which make it extremely difficult to give definitive ... See moredates in advance for announcements. We like to tell you our artists the moment we are able to so, similarly, we wouldn't like to withold information just because we've committed to a future announcement date. All we can say is that we're working our butts off to give you guys the greatest line-up we can and we'll announce our new additions as soon as we are able to.

Team Sonisphere appreciates your patience and support.

I have to say, I've never seen a festival run like this. Even when Download had those dodgy couple of years in 2007 and 2008, at least they got the information out on time and when they said they would. If the organisers don't have everything signed and sealed, why promise an announcement on a given day, and then backtrack if/when something has gone wrong? Why not just release a statement a few hours before the announcement is ready instead, rather than hyping up an announcement which is running late.

Yes, it does say week commencing 8th March, but generally when a date is given, you expect to hear at least something, if not what you're expecting. Two days late with an explanation of why the announcement hasn't been made yet isn't the sharpest of organisational skills - you'd have thought they could have at least had this info out quicker. Its only fuelling the belief that the festival is badly run and in somewhat of a shambles.

I feel sorry for anyone who's already bought a ticket. I hope they reward you with something worthwhile in the end.

Still nothing on the website, thats bad communication, its understandable that things go wrong with contracts etc (it happened to R & L last year and happens with V festival all of the time with no communication for months on end) however this is a new festival that needs to really work hard to sell itself and get a foot in the market, a simple message posted on the website on Monday would have eased any backlash, now they have really put the pressure on themselves as unless the announcement is shit hot then they could face an even greater backlash.

Lets hope for Faith No More, Slash and some decent US punk (Rancid and NOFX) would go down very well, I just hope its not Guns n Roses (now there own tribute band) or Manowar.

I will keep the faith for the moment that they will produce something special :P

So why is everyone moaning at Sonisphere then? Iron Maiden are equal of AC/DC and Rammstein piss all over RATM as a live band. Throw in Alice Cooper, Iggy, Slayer and Anthrax and you have the basis of a really good line up?

I agree that several of the bands that were announced last week where pretty dire but download and any other festival will have bands like that?

I will be the first to moan if the sub headliners are Manowar as I was last year when Heaven and Hell were announced but I honestly think that this years line up will be equal if not better than Download.

I wouldn't have said RATM's slot at Download is wasted - only 40,000 tickets available for the free gig, and something like 122,000+ applied? A significant chunk of them will happily shell out to see them at Download. Even though they have to pay, they're still getting bang for their buck.

Can't help but think the announcement of the Download announcement delay is rubbing salt in the Sonisphere wounds though, and not just good, well-informed information?

Whatever the case, i got a bad feeling that the Sonisphere organisers are scrabbling about trying to book something that will get the punters genuinely excited. Can't help but think the reason for the delay is that it was supposed to be Manowar being announced....... but then Soni realised the general concensus online wasn't terribly favourable.

Hopefully they're checking down the back of the sofa for the phone number of Faith No More's agent :P

    • I found the vibe a little different to recent editions.. definitely an older crowd, less queer, less Spanish.. certainly has something to do with the lack of Glastonbury this year. And I felt Saturday was a little overcrowded. I‘ve never seen Mordor as full as last night for the xx and Gorillaz. Did not enjoy that too much.
    • Not my favourite year either, despite liking the lineup more than previous years. Not sure what it was, I guess Thursday really put the brakes on things. But yeah I'll be back next year hopefully. And maybe Massive Attack will return...
    • E-mail summarizing Saturday - Primavera Sound 2026 Journal Day 3. As in previous days, it's going to be on the website soon, I think.
    • I was surprised as well. I met more than 20 different people on both Friday and Saturday that had come in reusing QR codes.
