when will the best british band headline......

It won't happen. Due to the lack of personality, charisma and wit of the front man means that they will never make the step up. They're a very, very good band and highly enjoyable live (I saw them three times last year) but they're just lacking in a little something.

I have seen kasabian at glastonbury twice now, 2009 and 2007. Both times they have played before the headline act and both times they have totally blew them away. In 2007 they played before the artic monkeys but the crowd were still singing kasabian songs through their set! Last year in my opinion they were the best act and even blew away The boss aka bruce springsteen. I think after their last album and all the accolades that they have recieved that surely sooner rather that later they will headline. Doesnt look like it will be this year thou, muse look like they have got that job.

Ok i am biting the troll now:

Take the last two albums

Muse: The Resistance 1810000

Kasabian: West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum 699000

So erm yeah Kasabian are no where near best British band using your criteria, cos Muse certainly don't have high sales figures compared to older British acts. However they have practically sold out two Wembley dates, do Kasabian do world wide stadium tours?

that's like saying Clapham Junction is the 'busiest' rail station in England. you had to go through kasabian to get to what came next.

If springsteen hadn't been on next they would not have had that type of crowd. Springsteen's crowd got comfortably situated during Crosby, Stills and Nash (and for some people much earlier). yes, some of the kasabian kids left to go see something else afterwards, but far more people in that massive crowd 'endured' kasabian because bruce was on next.

Kasabian are not crap. They're just average. Lead singer is a witless twat. they will never sell much records or play big venues anywhere more than 250 miles from the british isles. Muse can headline festivals in the US (Coachella) and sell out Madison Square Garden. Kasabian could perhaps fill Joe's Pub in Los Angeles. but, they will headline Glasto next yr as we're running out of 'new headliners' to feature and who conceivably could given they have a huge domestic fanbase.

Kasabian are shite. Completely, totally, 100% shite.

I think I'm the first person to say this on this thread, but I've been arguing about them with a work colleague all week (who reckons they'd be better headliners than Stevie Wonder - need I say more?)

I'm certainly not one to say 'I don't like them therefore they're crap' because I don't like Radiohead or Muse but can't deny they're talented bastards. There are others that fall into that category - Kasabian don't. Because they're shite.

But what talent do Kasabian have? Zero. They are simply shite. I love watching Sky Sports News, but hearing that crap blaring out before/after EVERY commercial break puts me right off. If it wasn't for Charlotte Jackson and Georgie Thompson's cleavages, I'd probably not watch it at all to avoid that detestable song.

Best band in Britain? Well they certainly have a HUGE fanbase in this country - the country that has a karaoke act at Christmas number 1 most years, the same country that made 'Jedward' famous.

So yeah, if you want to make Kasabian the biggest band in Britain, go ahead. In this day and age, I don't think it's much to be proud of.

Kasabian, other stage 2005...cracking set, one of my favourites of the weekend....and Tom actually had something onstage, maybe not charisma, but a certain swagger. At the time totally unjustified, and maybe that's why it worked...but they played a blinding set.

Pyramid stage 2007...dunno, was at Arcade Fire (but saw them elsewhere in 2007 and they were disappointing compared to 2005...as were Arcade Fire I might add!)

Pyramid stage 2009...I had high hopes as I quite liked a lot of the new album at that point, but they were sterile.

i could swear that kasabian have just sold out all there arena tours and that includes wembley a few times over an in a matter of hours. They have been touring for around a year now, also playin many festivals abroad. They constantly sell out their gigs and they will be ritely awarded with many awards this year ranging from nmes to the brits. WHERE DID ALL THE LOVE GO......

All album and ticket sales show is a band's popularity. And as we know popularity and talent are definitely not linked (Jedward).

Kasabian might not sell out places like Wembley (at present), but that doesn't mean that they aren't as good or talented as people who can - like Muse for instance. It's just about how popular they are with the general public

Lets be honest now. Kasabian were good, when they played in 2007. Last year they were just 'going through the motions'

Boring as high hell. Best descision we made last year was leaving them for Pendulum.

No one can be the judge of best british band, it just goes on individual opinion.

And I dont know what planet you live on saying they've sold out tours. They're not stadium tours are they. Theres a reason why Muse are headlining FOR THE SECOND TIME and KASABIAN PROBABLY NEVER WILL HEADLINE.

u2 + muse, both are british, both headlining..................unlike Kasabian

Couldn't agree more. Kasabian are one of the very few bands that I not only dislike, but genuinely can't figure out their attraction. They do get the crowd moving, it has to be said, but I just can't stand them. I've seen them live twice - once at Glasto '09, and once at Wembley before Oasis. I just don't get it, I really don't.
