when will the best british band headline......

Who does everyone think is the best then. I honestly think their new album (west ryder) is absoloute quality. With Oasis now gone i think kasabian are the band to fill their shoes and bring that edge to rock n roll.

2011 they'll headline the Friday I think, I don't see how the Arctic Monkeys or The Killers can do it but they can't. Obviously I'd rather we had acts the size of U2 or Stevie Wonder headlining every year but I think Kasabian deserve the chance to try.

There is no edge to them. They play non-commital dance-tinged indie without anything to say. They say they're the takers of Oasis' crown but I would disagree. They have definitely taken Oasis' fanbase, but they do not have the ability to do anything more. They don't have what the French call a certain I don't know what.

I don't think it's fair to say that they "don't have the ability to do more". Only time will tell.

It's their third album now which has been successful, but not successful enough for it to still being toured a year later. They're a seven out of ten band who are looking at seven/eight years in the business. They've had a lot of time. The winter arena tour was a big chance for them, but I saw nothing in it to revise my opinion. It was really, really enjoyable, but it just wasn't gripping.

Also the songs are very well written an totally rock any event. U2 are good but bonno does my head in with all the political crap. Im a music man, thats what i wanna hear.

If they brought out another album (that tops West Ryder) early next year, then I reckon they could headline 2011. But I can't really see that happening. So I think the best thing for them to do is take some time off after touring, take a lot of time on a new album then bring it out in time to put on an amazing performance in 2013 cos I think they CAN do it. Just not yet.

I think they'll headline next year. I'm really not a big fan but there's no denying there popularity.

I've sort of watched them come up the ranks. First time I seen them was first or second on the NME stage at T in the Park, 2002 or 2003 I think. They headlined the NME in 2007. Co-headlining Main Stage at T this year, I'd guess just below Greenday or Muse. They've done well.

I like seeing the Pyramid headliners every year (it's the communal mass singalongs which I go to Glasto for) but over the last two years I'd say Springsteen has the least effect on me. I was approaching Springsteen and Neil Young from exactly the same mindset and one of them blew me away whilst with the other the highlight was knowing it was Silvio Dante on stage. I think the problem was that Springsteen gigs are very much enormous fan club events. There are those who know what to expect and they love it, but for those on the periphery it just loses them. I put that down to the fact that it has been a long time since Springsteen has played for anybody other than his own majority-obsessed fanbase.

I can see why they're popular. They've got good singles, easy to sing-along to. I just put them in the same category as the Killers, Arctics, Snow Patrol etc. as a decent modern indie-pop band. I certainly don't see any 'edge' to them, and there's 100's of bands doing the 'indie-dance' thing.

But being a 'decent modern indie-pop band' is more than enough to headline Glastonbury so I can see them doing it at some point, they've paid their dues at Glastonbury and seem to enjoy it, so it's bound to happen at some point.

I like Kasabian a lot and have seen them a few times. I can understand how people get caught up in thinking they're the greatest thing ever when at the front of their gigs but in the cold light of day they don't really offer anything that different and you do feel there's that bit of soul missing from their music.

If someone gave me that description I'd expect something sounding more like The Whip for example. I'd say Kasabian fuse indie rock with more indie rock.

listen to west ryder and you will hear different synths, distorted bass and drums, twisted audio samples, pads etc in alot of the tunes. Hmmmmmmm deffo no dance sounds in there then. Serge is a genious, he writes and co produces all their stuff which to my knowledge not alot of bands do. The production part is very technical and for a band member to do this along with, write, sing and play various instruments!!!! Edge for me any day....... Stop All the hating and let us all prey they are on this years billing.
