I'm not joining the debate because ultimately I feel the same way as you do - I'd prefer it if there weren't as many flags. I'm adding to the thread and I realise the irony of such an action, but the debate was tired long ago.

It'd be lovely to see the acts. But if they won't ban flags, what do you want to do? Forget about it and try to enjoy the experience, or keep harping on about it like a spoilt child?

Alternatively, go to the acoustic/avalon tents. No flags there.

Bloomin' minority. Always moaning about something. I'm not fan of flags, but the votes happened, and the flags won. The decision should be respected. Find another target for now. Tall maybe. How about anyone over six foot two has to stand half way up the hill?

They are annoying for many reasons, cause no benefit to anyone and shouldn't be there. It's quite simple.

Clearly you aren't too fussed about seeing what's going on, on-stage, most people are there to watch music etc, having your view blocked (we are talking 60/70% visability too) because you don't like being in a mosh-pit is not a valid reason for allowing flags.

I've not whinged, I've made two (now three!) posts on it, I won't be holding a demonstration about banning them as I have a lot better things to do.

However, one vote on their website (which attracted 10% of the capacity in votes) certainly isn't the gospel opinion on it.

I personally believe, as do many, that most people who are at the festival don't want them there - I guess a ballott at the festival itself is the only way to guage that, which will obviously only be of interest for future years.

There's a big difference between 'not being fussed about seeing what's going on' and 'going on and on and on about it even though it won't make any difference'.

I do hope they have a few notices on the screens, and I do hope the number of flags recedes, but what good is all the whinging going to do?

It is not the be all and end all of the whole festival.

The weather is different and you know it. If you spout shite like "I want a bit of sun but a light shower to keep the dust down" then I'm sorry - I'll find you and drown you in Worthy Farm slurry for tempting fate. No compromise with it comes to precipitation.

We require 30 degree wall-to-wall heat. No compromise and no f**king bastard rain whatsoever thanks.

Now I'm going off on one on the flag thread and it's all your fault, though if you've learned your lesson, I would consider this thread hijack a worthwhile one.

I wholeheartedly agree on the need for full on scorchio, with not a fecking hint of so much as a light morning dew. But....flags can be lowered, flags can be discouraged, and therefore those that find them an annoyance can be made less annoyed. If it decides to rain were f**ked, period.

You have the wrong end of the stick. I'm not there to drool at the acts on the main stage, eyes forward, focused on the band. I'm there to dance about, smoke a joint, hug my wife, boogie with my buddies, have a party and occassionally check out what's going on.

So you might consider it to be a pedantic, unneccessary comment. I don't just watch the musicians. I experience the music.
