Well done yog, hope it works out for you xx

Cheers feral. Appreciated.

Hope that things are good your end.

Everything's a bit Radio Rental at this end. We had one of our dealers phone us up last night in tears. Apparently, she was off her head on bits and bobs, went to put the bin out, fell and smashed her head. She was lying in the front garden crying out for people to help, and they just walked past her. Anyway, I went drove over and picked her up so that she could stay at ours for the evening (after first offering her a lift to the hospital - which she refused). No sooner was she in the door than she'd cracked open a bag containing the largest single piece of MDMA I have seen. Anyway, it all went a bit mad after that.

Hello carlosj,

Is that one big long euphemism?

Oops, autocorrect finbar. No, it's too public for a euphemism down there, it was just a chilled evening.

Ha!

can't believe people just walked past.

The good and bad thing about the Valleys is people don't mind their own business. :D

Anyway, I'm happy today because my eye pressure test was much better today than on Wednesday and is now normal, and my field vision test showed no telling indicators of tumour.

(the nurse at my GP had told me to go along and mentioned ataxia, and tumours.)

so now I have to go on a healthy eating and activity regime, because my body's showing big signs of wear and tear.

There's stroke in my family, so I should be more sensible and less fun :(

Hello feral,

Yeah, it's mental that people just walked past her. Then again, she is mental, and maybe they knew that!

Happy to hear about your eye pressure test etc was OK.  I hadn't read / realized that you had been sent by your GP to have one. My wife's brother is a leading specialist of something to do with eyes. He goes around the world lecturing in it, has written the books on it, which optometry students use today as their manual etc,

Good luck with the healthy eating and activity regime. I need to go on one of those myself, as I am chronically out of shape in terms of respirotory healthiness.

Anyway, glad to hear that you are OK. :)

Hi Yog, no, hadn't posted on here about it - I've got tinnitus, mild dizziness and balance and spatial awareness problems. So I went to the nurse to sort out my ears (convinced it's a neck or ear problem) and she scared me with her wild tales of tumours and pressure on the brain. Then the first eye test was high, so you have to have a second one and more tests. They were OK.

But since my blood pressure's up, and I kept reading about stroke, I'm going to try to listen to my body a bit (after I've finished this cider, anyway :D )

Hello feral,

I know where you are coming from. I'm going to really reign it in after Glastonbury. I'll be dead in next to no time if I don't. I actually want a quiet not too destructive life now. I'm getting too old for this kind of caper.

and it's sorted .... for the first time in 15 years, I get to take my kid to Glasto. :D:D:D

I can see why that would be off the scale good news. Really made up for the pair of you. He's going to love it, you're going to love it. Proper quality time away from the 'real' world together. Hope you both have a ball. :)

What a lovely day today was. The shop brought us in a bit of money, and we met some wonderful people, two of whom, a relatively elderly couple, bought a piece of my art. It was only for £30 but the fact that they really liked it cheered me up no end. It was bizarre because they really didn't look like the type of people who would be in to that kind of art - it was made up of recycled computer parts, dvd parts, anything electrical / electronic parts really. Plus they were both from Transylvania, a people you don't meet very often.

Then my wife's in the shop and some young bloke walks in and asks about the whereabouts of what was a head shop. Within 5 minutes she's getting him a deal of grass, which he went off with a happy bunny. He was also an interesting and nice bloke to talk to.

So, to conclude, I had a happy hippy day today. And it made for a nice change. :)

That does sound like a nice day.

I'm in a working environment that's the antithesis to chilled out hippy, so I'd love to have had a day like that :)

Hello feral,

Yes, I used to work in an environment like that. I'm not sure that I could do it again. I don't think that I have that kind of strength and stamina left in me.

You have my every sympathy for working in that environment. If I knew in my 20's what I know now, I'd never have squandered so much time clearing up the mistakes of others, higher up the food chain, etc, and getting no praise for it.

If you are at work today, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you have a stress free day. :)

I'm reading this book at the moment:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Subtle-Art-Not-Giving-Counterintuitive-ebook/dp/B019MMUA8S/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1496305371&sr=1-1&keywords=the+subtle+art+of+not+giving+a+fck

It talks a lot about jettisoning the crap.

My son's fiancé's friend has also written a book about decluttering your life: the theme is only keep what gives a flash of joy.

I think I'll start with the house and move on from there.

(always wanted to do something people centred - counselling, therapy, writing maybe - something that connects with people and cuts out all the fake plastic crap.)

Yes, I've got loads of physical crap which I thought important once but no longer do. I'm currently dealing with my house sale, but also need to get in to some serious ebay selling at some point.

Have you tried writing? I've written children's fictional stuff before, and found it, at the time, really quite an interesting thing to do. I'd like to do more, but my procrastination levels are on overload. Better do something about that as well, before it's too late.

I used to write when I was young, I think I've lost the inner child of doing things that are fun rather than functional.

I think I need to put the fun back into functional, and let the rest take care of itself.

(without putting the wreck into recklessness, obviously).
