I think he's disappeared up himself a bit of late - at IW Festival a couple of years ago the played a set of album tracks, failed to play the big solo singles, then declared "Looks like your saving your dancing for someone else" and walked off stage 10 minutes early.

On form he's a genius, but of late he's just been an arse.

i saw him on Sat at the MEN and he was excellent. He can't sing for shit anymore but it doesn't matter, his band are as tight as f**k and he's still a legend. He's also got the solo material to pull off a decent festival set, with a couple of Roses classics thrown in for good measure.

The reason, he didn't do his full slot at IoW Fest was because of a big incident the night before in Sheffield. He was doing a warm-up gig and he dragged off stage by a 'fan', resulting in being carted off to hospital and stitches in his head. Here's a clip of the incident
He apparently was going to pull out of IoW but was keen to do it because he was on just before his schoolboy heroes, the Sex Pistols.

For the record, I love his studio work and admit his live singing voice is far from perfect but I would certainly see him if he was to come back to Glasto.

He is a shadow of his former self though. He's gone from this icon of youth, symbolic of everything cool and charismatic to an aging scally who sounds like a drunk dad (I know he doesn't drink by the way!) singing karaoke down the pub.

He's not physically gone downhill quite how Shaun Ryder has, but time hasn't been kind to him the way it has to Morrissey.

Maybe I'll contradict this post when the Roses reform...?

I've never seen him live, so I'll reserve judgement on his live performance. What I will say, however, is that the reviews I have heard, or read, from people who have been to see him aren't usually very good!

I do enjoy a lot of his stuff on record - but thought his latest album lacked a bit of substance. He hasn't played at Glasto since 2005, (I think), so good chance for 2012 I reckon..

i also saw him at the m.e.n arena a few weeks ago and it was a cracking gig, his latest album 'my way' is one of the best he's ever released and his voice really isnt as bad as your all making out. If he did play glasto this year i'd defo be amongst that crowd

    • Was volunteering at the Women’s Cricket World Cup at Southampton yesterday. Was great fun.
    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
