This thread shows that folk is alive and well and truly diverse.

Although there's still some finger in the ear stuff around, the folk world is also prepared to laugh at itself with the success of Ade Edmundson and the Bad Shepherds.

Maybe you need to add a folk fest to Glasto next year. My favourite is the Trowbridge Pump near Bath where you see many of the bands that you'll find on Glasto's Acoustic Stage.

Anything Conor Oberst (Monsters of Folk, Bright Eyes, Mystic Valley Band, Solo etc) has done, he is a wonderful, wonderful musician. Although I wouldn't just call him folk, that would be unfair (Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, certain Cassadaga tracks).

I always say it, but just get the man in some form back to Glastonbury, please, please , please

Not well known nationally (yet!), but they did perform at last years Glastonbury on one of the smaller stages is a band called Heal The last Stand.

They are a from the North Wales town of Wrexham who have really good songs which have a real folky sound.

They released an album themselves and it is excellent. Anybody who likes Fleet Foxes or Mumford and Sons should really enjoy them.

Broken Records are AMAZING, love love love them. They're great live.

Frightened Rabbit too, although I guess it is somewhat questionable how 'folk' they are.

Love the Two Gallants as well. Don't think they've done anything for a few years though, hopefully they'll be back next year.
