I'm trying hard not to be, but I'm so excited by the prospect of this!! I have a ticket to Pavement's ATP, and if I get to see Pavement *and* Pulp next year I shall be beside myself with glee!!!

On a slight side note, has everyone seen Mini Jarvis? I hadn't seen him until someone sent me a link a few days ago, and it's surely the cutest thing...

I think this another case of this forum building bands up to be much bigger than they actually are

They filled in for The Stone Roses and it was meant to have been sensational, fair enough.

Lets not get silly though, to go from, THE ROLLING STONES! to... Pulp. Seems a bit mad for the 40th Anniversary in my opinion.

I Like a few songs, be great if they played, but I think it'd be a terribly anti-climatic headline choice.

How stupid are you people? A band that has already headlined twice and hasn't toured in eight years isn't big enough to headline, but some two year old band like Arctic Monkeys can? Stupid.

Cocker FM!

Cocker to host Sunday music show

Jarvis Cocker

Jarvis Cocker has already clocked up a host of broadcast experience

Musician Jarvis Cocker is to host the Sunday afternoon slot on BBC 6 Music from the New Year.

The former Pulp frontman, who has previously broadcast on Radio 2 and guest edited the Today programme, takes over from Stephen Merchant.

Cocker said his two-hour show would be filled with "hare-brained schemes and beautiful, beautiful music".

He is also planning a London residency, playing along to yoga classes and hosting jam sessions with his fans.

'Great honour'

In May, the singer took over an art gallery in Paris in which members of the public performed with him and his musicians.

The follow-up event is due to take place next month, culminating in a concert which will be broadcast live on the internet from the Village Underground in east London.

Cocker said that his new 6 Music mid-afternoon show is a "dream slot".

Jarvis Cocker in Paris

Jarvis Cocker performed in Paris for several hours a day

"It's that weird time when one week's effectively over and yet the new one's not yet begun - the 'limbo-hours' if you like.

"It is my intention to fill these hours with as much dodgy opinion, crackpot theories, hare-brained schemes & beautiful, beautiful music as is humanly possible.

"It's a great honour to be working for the BBC, which I consider to be the greatest broadcaster in the world," he added.

Bob Shennan, controller of 6 Music and Radio 2, said: "Jarvis just loves music. He's an iconic figure so he's perfect for Sundays on 6 Music."

Cocker joins a roster of presenters with a music background, including Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, Cerys Matthews and Tom Robinson.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
    • Shambles. Transport and comms garbage. Been looking forward to this since last June and have never been to a more disorganised festival in 30+ years.  Why we were told the whole festival was cancelled for the night if they had put back shows for a few hours?  Pissed off to say the very least and put a huge downer on the rest of the weekend.
