Didn't exactlly the same thing happen last year?

We all got excited cause it was going to be glorious (German) then we all got depressed cause JackOne said it was going to be arse(French).

But when we got there it was Mostly German and the French just popped in for a couple of hours to say "Zut Allores" Then buggered off again, when the germans invaded for the rest of the Festival.

Damn, even the Met Office are now talking about unsettled weather over the weekend !!!

"Most areas of the UK should see plenty of fine and dry weather at the start of the period, with extended sunny periods and just a low chance of occasional showers developing inland. Northwestern areas may well be cloudier with occasional rain, although there should be periods of drier and brighter weather here too. Winds will be fresh at times in the north and west, but should stay generally light or moderate elsewhere.

For the weekend and beyond, the more unsettled weather is likely to spread to most areas, giving a mixture of showers, occasionally heavy, and sunny spells across the UK. Temperatures are expected to be warm at first, locally very warm in the southeast, but are likely to return to near normal towards the beginning of July.

Oh how f**king marvellous.

I cannot describe how utterly f**ked off this news makes me feel. It needs to change back - and it needs to change back NOW.

The problem is - the 12z GFS run is normally the most pessimistic.

I still (probaby stupidly) believe there is still time for this forecast to change but not long. If it is still looking like this by Sunday then I think we should be prepared for the worst.

Well I am still keeping my fingers crossed because the Met Office say Tuesday is pretty good with high temps and it would have to be a bad bit of luck for the rest of the week to go dramaticly downhill?

well if you ask me, and of course i'm no expert, the WFR forecast coupled with the long runs and general ensemble kinetics clearly indicate a build up of intracranial pressure and a slight, and that is only slight, risk of precipitation around the lower gusseted areas in the run up to the festival.

Well phew, that's good news i'd say.

Right guys, time to take stock.

I remember through the winter how fast these weather models can change, swinging from cold armageddon to a little bit nippy over a 24 hour period.

Try to stay calm, nothing's nailed yet, wait until around Monday, then we'll have a very good idea of the weather.

It's still way too early to be sure of wet weather, WAY to early.

Warm and dry start but possibly downhill just in time from Friday. We need the Met Office to bring us hope later, otherwise it looks like we may, and I stress, may be in trouble, bloody Low pressure, talk about timing an arrival to perfection, you couldn't make it up! :angry:

Why cant you trust Metcheck? They got it spot on in 2005 (Biblical rain).

Its the same every year. Tuesday and Wednesday are usually great, sometime even Thursday, and then the rain arrives either Thursday or Thursday night. Just depends if it stays. One day of mud is fine. 5 day shitstorm though? f**k that.

From last year's pre-festival weather report:

According to the Met Office, the weather will be glorious – until the festival actually starts.

"To all intents and purposes, Thursday should be quite nice with sunny spells and only a small chance of showers," the Met Office told guardian.co.uk/music. "However, Friday looks like it will be quite cloudy, warm and humid with some showers from time to time. Chances are there could be some quite heavy downpours and possibly thunderstorms too."

Although it's too early to be sure, there is a chance that Saturday and Sunday could be similarly dismal. Which means don't even think about leaving those wellies at home.

"You'll probably be needing them," the Met Office told us. "And I'd advise you to bring an umbrella as well."
