In fact, latest GFS has a dribbling of rain throughout with very heavy rain Sunday afternoon.

If that comes off it would be like a 2007 / 2005 combo.

The GFS data is used for most of the forecasts so I would expect them to start reflecting the above over the next few hours.

It's not looking good. However, that has all changed in the space of 12hrs, so lets hope it'll change again. It's funny how, when we see a good forecast we all assume it won't last, and when we see a bad one we think it's set in stone.

Reading this thread and checking the websites etc, one thing has become apparent.

No-one has got a fecking clue what is going to happen yet.

I'm not going welly/sandal shopping until next Monday.

Metcheck is useless. It claims to be using the 6z gfs data but the temps and forecast are way out.

Nobody should worry about the weather. There's plenty of time for it to change. We need the Atlantic high to strengthen and beat out the European low. It's very like WW2, and we know who won that.

That's an absolute disaster.

I'm going to retreat to my previous position that GFS data is American rubbish and they know as much about weather as they know about cricket. Much as we shouldn't have been optimistic when it was good, we shouldn't get too pessimistic when it's bad. If it looks like this in a weeks time though :O

Norwegian Weather Service still has a dry Wednesday :)

I'm certainly no expert, and I could be reading this all wrong, but I just looked at that and whilst it's not great news, the precipitation is nothing like a 2007, nor a storm of 2005 proportions.

That looks to me like a pretty 'meh' week. Certainly not acceptable as there IS some rain, but equally a long way from a mudbath.

TWIST though. Certainly.

It looks like steady rain throughout (like 2007) then a big blob of rain heading over us on the Sunday (a bit like 2005, though not thundery and not as heavy).

The problem is that even moderate rain creates a mudbath. 2007 was mudbath hell despite there being no properly heavy rain at all, just persistent gloomy drizzle.

A lot of rain did fall in 2007, here are the daily figures (from Yeovil):

June 20 0.0mm

June 21 4.1mm

June 22 6.3mm

June 23 0.5mm

June 24 6.9mm

Total 17.8mm

Oh dear. One part of me is thinking "rain would be nice, it'll be a PROPER glastonbury experience"... but the majority of me is thinking "Being cold and wet in a tent is miserable!".

Hopefully everything turns out in our favour...

Where is the steady rain throughout? I can see a bit on Wednesday, a bit on Friday morning and then a bit on Sunday night.

Unless I'm reading the wrong chart incorrectly, of course. Which isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
