Got them around 9.30, proper confirmation page so we're happy.

Group of friends were also lucky, but another group are in the "Registration number already used" limbo... which at least looks promising.

Not a terrible day, but the worst I've seen seetickets... I'd rather see Page Cannot Be Displayed for hours and then once I'm through know I'm through... this is just random!

Got mine at 9.20am, definitely the easiest T Day my parents have seen in a while and they've been going for years.

Congrats to those who have them, keep trying to those who haven't!

    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
    • But I think the point of that Dan Needle tax thing...we need to put up income tax, for all incomes (and thresholds should be unfrozen).
    • There are no easy answers...more than anything we need growth...and probably main ways of getting that is borrowing more to invest in stuff that makes us super sexy, and/or cut taxes on business and wealth generation which would mean less money to spend on public services and welfare and would obviously be super unpopular and get you chucked out of govt. On top of all that got an aging population, a growing welfare bill, a call for higher spending on defence, housing inequality, higher borrowing costs, and probably a load more sh*t on the way due to the Iran war (although so far it hasn't been that bad?)
