I think it will be a mistake for him to headline; Seen him at the tsunami relief gig in cardiff and it was his blues based mediocre stuff - no cream tracks and no derek and the dominos

The Live aid performance he did in the US was probably my favourite set "layla" "white room" "cocaine!" Magic

He doesn't do it for me any more. Like Andrew saw him at Tsunami Relief and it was a big bore and very disappointing. Everyone waited for the classics that didn't come.

Also saw him at the NEC and it was (and this might sound odd) too perfect. Very polished, very slick to the point where it could have been Las Vegas cabaret.

The edge has gone. He's best left to retirement on his millionaire's Caribbean island.

People who say Hendrix is crap are just people who are saying it to look individual

and cool.

Hendrix is the most inventive guitarist history has ever known, and it's not opinion

it is FACT.

EDIT: We're talking about Clapton here arn't we? Yeah he's prettey decent too :P

Eric Clapton with the Allman Brothers Band performing Layla at the Beacon Theater. Two other great guitarists on stage with him, from left to right, Warren Haynes (Allmans, Gov't Mule, The Dead), Derek Trucks (Allmans, Derek Trucks Band and formerly also the Eric Clapton band) and Eric himself rocking out like he should!

I'm afraid I would be really disappointed if Clapton played. His comments made in Birmingham were completely deplorable. When Jay-Z was booked everyone went on about him being 'anti glastonbury' and 'not what Glastonbury is about'. Well to my mind Jay-Z, a man who has done work for water charities is much more what I would want Glastonbury to be about than an overrated, bigotted, racist who has never apologised for his comments and apparently has even gone as far as backing them up in recent years.

Sorry, rant over!

I'm with you.

I'm not sure what comments you're on about to be honest, but I'm aware that Clapton has a liking for some rather right-wing causes, including support for the Countryside Alliance and their aiming of bring back foxhunting.

"Do we have any foreigners in the audience tonight? If so, please put up your hands. Wogs I mean, I'm looking at you. Where are you? I'm sorry but some f**king wog...Arab grabbed my wife's bum, you know? Surely got to be said, yeah this is what all the f**king foreigners and wogs over here are like, just disgusting, that's just the truth, yeah. So where are you? Well wherever you all are, I think you should all just leave. Not just leave the hall, leave our country. You f**king (indecipherable). I don't want you here, in the room or in my country. Listen to me, man! I think we should vote for Enoch Powell. Enoch's our man. I think Enoch's right, I think we should send them all back. Stop Britain from becoming a black colony. Get the foreigners out. Get the wogs out. Get the coons out. Keep Britain white. I used to be into dope, now I'm into racism. It's much heavier, man. f**king wogs, man. f**king Saudis taking over London. Bastard wogs. Britain is becoming overcrowded and Enoch will stop it and send them all back. The black wogs and coons and Arabs and f**king Jamaicans and f**king (indecipherable) don't belong here, we don't want them here. This is England, this is a white country, we don't want any black wogs and coons living here. We need to make clear to them they are not welcome. England is for white people, man. We are a white country. I don't want f**king wogs living next to me with their standards. This is Great Britain, a white country, what is happening to us, for f**k's sake? We need to vote for Enoch Powell, he's a great man, speaking truth. Vote for Enoch, he's our man, he's on our side, he'll look after us. I want all of you here to vote for Enoch, support him, he's on our side. Enoch for Prime Minister! Throw the wogs out! Keep Britain white! "

Is what he's quoted as saying during a 1976 concert in Birmingham by the press. The direct quote sourced from Wikipedia. The fact that he was drunk doesn't make this excusable either. Utter filth.
