just discovered the song 'i'm down' at the weekend watching paul mccartney live on sky arts hd. was great how they faded between the shea stadium original and the recent gig!

Its great yeah. Love the vocal on it. Help and I’m Down, one written by Lennon, one by Macca at the same time. Sums up where they were at that stage.

Dave Mason, the guy who played trumpet on Penny Lane, A Day in the Life, Magical Mystery Tour, and All You Need Is Love died a week or so ago aged 85. Really helped define their sound during 1967.

For the life of me though I'll never understand why they didn't leave in the lovely little last few notes he played at the end of this take...... gorgeous stuff.

The Beatles released Revolver today, 45 years ago. August 5th, 1966.

And still sounds ahead of its time. As the great Ian Mcdonald said about it: The Beatles had initiated a second pop revolution – one which while galvanising their existing rivals and inspiring many new ones, left all of them far behind.

Wow great work Tonyo. Never heard that long mono version before. :)

Should've been on Pepper or Magical Mystery Tour.

now you can play do-it-yourself phasing

try and get both track to play as close to each other as possible, then you get genuine 60's phasing when they start to cancel each other out... ;)

Ive about half a second delay on here. Very "Beatlesy". Heavy as f**k too.

More on the Harrison doc here

I wonder will Marty touch on the fact that Harrison was a total horndog and serial adulterer?! something not widely spoken about and totally against what he preached?

When's the Scorcesee doc on Harrison? Seen ads on the train for the Blu ray release next week?

Wednesday and Thursday this week on HBO so will be "available" the day after. Really looking forward to it.

Can't see it being shown anywhere on the Beeb?! Poor.

I think it's to be shown on the Beeb later in the year.

Despite the fact they were producers. Useless c**ts. And they wonder why people will be on Piratebay on Thursday downloading it......... ?!

Alternatively, how about people go out and buy it or rent it? Just a thought.

Beatles fans won't wait. Theres a delay between it being shown on HBO and released on DVD. That buy or rent it from the video shop business model has been dead for years. Especially when you can download it it in 10 minutes,

Great review of it here. Can't wait to see it.
