I liked it. Seen it all already but the studio chat was great, hadnt heard some of it before. Every second of unheard Beatles stuff is gold to me. The pace of the documentary really nailed what they did, an unmatched 8 year assault on pop music.

Human beings might live for another 1000 years before the highs of this creative zenith are witnessed again. Shit just makes me so happy to listen to.

GF would be crazy to book him again IMO. Too soon and would invariably be a letdown.

I have to agree with you. Shame for those who missed him 5 years ago, but you can maybe have too much of a good thing.

Still hoping Gilmour/Waters/Both play next year.

I went to British Sea Power instead of the lot of them, but caught the last 45 minutes of Neil Young and was chuffed to bits to hear A Day In The Life (just getting the thread back on topic!). Gutted with all the clashes on the Friday night.

Really? That surprises me, really it does. Not to say I didn't have a great time, but I couldn't put a cigarette paper between that and some of the other mega-act performances I've seen over the years, say David Bowie or The Rolling Stones.

None of which were my favourite gig. Without derailing this again, I'd say my favourite gig was Aerosmith at the Marque Club in 1991. When Jimmy Page came on and jammed with them speficially. Really something to see Stephen Tyler screaming his lungs out to The Immigrant Song.

Better, I'd say. And I've seen both do it.

edit : I guess the thing with it was that other than it being in the Marquee club, which was the size of my front-room, nobody knew that Page was going to be there, and the lights just went down and Tyler started doing his screaming thing and the lights hit Page. It was really very very good.

They also did a great version of Train kept on rolling and Milk Cow Blues too.

It definitely was. I think it's probably due to a number of reasons.

• It was Macca - my hero. Yes, I have a bit of blind hero-worship going on (see Neil's contribution to the Springsteen thread on the Glasto forum - I'm guilty in this case and admit as much)
  
• It was Glasto. I think Glasto makes any gig that extra bit special.
  
• I was nicely drunk. That sort of drunk when you're still completely in control of everything, there's no chance of memory loss and you basically love everything about life
  
• The setlist - it was amazing! A great mixture of Beatles hits/solo stuff, bung in some pretty decent musicians, a tribute to John and George and some fireworks during a Bond theme. Get in.
  
• Singing Hey Jude on the way back to the tents.
  

So for me, I don't think anything could possibly top that night. All those things and much, much more made it what it was. I wouldn't ever claim it was the ultimate night of musical perfection for any hardened critic, but I absolutely loved it. If that makes sense.

Also - if anyone hasn't seen The Rutles, I recommend it. Genius film and probably available for quite cheap now on DVD. Let's all drink tea together. Cheese and Onions.

You were in the moment. I guess that's what counts more than anything. It was a good set, I did enjoy, it was Glasto, but I'm probably getting too old, and enjoyed gigs a bit more when I was younger. Or enjoyed them in a different way. In a christ I need three stitches in my head after getting flung against the stage after going over the top during a Sepultura gig type way.
