negative threads

just got back from reading and cant believe that the forum page are full of negative threads.

as far as i could see, everyone was enjoying themselves.dancing,drinking,laughing,etc.admittedly i didnt camp as i have two friends who live in reading so i cant comment on the riots/trouble etc but i cant believe that i was the only one to enjoy myself.

i had a great time, met loads of people, drank loads of beer, watched some great bands.

i thought FNM were great, rival schools TCV rse against were awesome and enjoyed sets by anti flag and gaslight anthem.went down the moshpit for gallows for a laugh even though i dint know any of their stuff and watched half of radiohead before catching the lostprophets.

a massive crowd seemed to love the prodigy and i was surprised to find that i knew most of their songs.

so come on lets hear some positive stuff, tell us about the bands you liked instead of the ones u didnt, tell us about the bands you discovered rather than the ones u were disapointed by,tell us about the bands who played to packed tents rather than how small some of the crowds were, tell us about the laughs or tell us how drunk u got.

was i really on my own in having a great time?????

I camped all weekend at Leeds, and everything seemed to be great and everyone having a nice time, it was great! :)

I think people are just more likely to post about their bad experiences than their good ones though, which is why it seems that most threads are negative. People who didn't enjoy it will be in the minority.

I camped at reading in the "worst" campsite, actually on the y7 path near the fire watchtower.

I had a fab time. No 17 year old is going to intimidate me, no matter how much fire they have. We just celebrated our last night with heart fm, a lot of alcohol and a healthy sense of humour. All our stuff packed up so no worries there and i actually felt like on the last night, the people were the nicest!

As far as the acts go, tim minchin, funeral for a friend, jack penate, florence and the machine, jamie t, kings of leon, them crooked vultures, prodigy, arctic monkeys, frank turner, brand new, gaslight anthem, gallows, radiohead. All class.

I've put my negative things in other threads as i felt there was definitely something to say about those things but on top of this I had a great weekend. on the fire few days there were people coming over to our camping spot to have a chat and say hello to us and our neighbours said hello after they pitched. I felt like it was going to be like the old days where I met new people which it was for a while.

The line up was average in parts but I saw some amazing bands and came away loving some bands more than I thought I would. Leftover Crack were especially good. I love my punk but somehow seem to have let them pass me by until now. Soulsavers were superb too a really mesmerising set. Sonic Boom 6 were great fun and a great way to kick off the festival. Then there were the ones I knew who would be good who didn't disappoint Ian Brown being the best of these, then there was radiohead, placebo and deftones all absolutely brilliant. Yes I had a great time and I will be back but not camping for a full weekend.

    • Standardly perfect day at Primavera yesterday.   Highlights:   Rilo Kiley - kinda smallish crowd, comparing to Geese, but man, they sounded great.   The Cure - finally saw them for the first time and loved every minute (left during Close to Me).   Jade (arrived during FUFN) - amazing voice, perfect vibes, great show.   The Levi's Plaza - I went there just after Somos la herencia and when I decided to take a pee break and saw the line of people waiting to get inside to see Rose Gray, I rescheduled the pee break for later. She had a fun little set in front of a very small (but very dedicated) audience. I don't understand why the capacity limit of this stage was so low. However, MANY people were watching from outside the "plaza". If you're looking for a feeling of exclusive experience and dedicated crowd and have 30 minutes to spare, this is the right stage. Also, to whoever recommended Babymorocco, thanks, it was kinda silly, but very high energy set. I would definitely come back to this stage today, if not for the clashes.

    • Skylink is 24 hours... But the skylink will drop you off at Pegasus business Park or EMA (East Midlands Airport) where you'll have to use the Download shuttle link, which isn't 24 hours. The last shuttle from the Download transport hub to EMA is 12:15 TrentBarton / Local bus info here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/download2026   Skylink Derby / Leicester / Loughborough timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/services/skylinkderby  Shuttle timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/userfiles/hotel.pdf If you miss the shuttle, which is very doubtful, you'll just have to find another way to EMA / Pegasus business park, maybe a taxi. You could even walk to EMA from the Download transport hub, wouldn't take too long. Just make sure you use the airport's 'circular path' instead of the dangerous roads.  I walk the circular path often, it's nice and easy. I would post instructions but I very much doubt you'll miss the shuttle, and if you do, it isn't hard to work out. The footpath is clearly signposted from directly opposite / across the road from where the download map has labelled "Pickup and Drop Off Exit."
